azalice Posted June 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2008 I see some shore excursions available for booking on Zuiderdam for Dec.9 but others (such as for Panama Canal) are not yet listed. How far in advance do they usually open up?
cp556 Posted June 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Last year for our Panama Canal cruise, only a couple of ports' shore excursions opened up at all online. Onboard, there were many available. This year, right now again there are only a couple of ports available online. So, I don't know the answer to your question....;)
Harry1954 Posted June 29, 2008 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Sometimes they open up closer to (about a month before) the cruise date as they have settled with local tour groups by then. We did the Panama Canal on Zaandam .. it was really quite a revealing cruise. They had a commentary going on during the actual entry/transit through the first lock. Additionally, if this one stops in Costa Rica and they offer an excursion to a coffee plantation .. consider it as this gave us a real tour of the inland part of the island and the folks treated us quite well. harry
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 29, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Many times we have had to wait until about a month before some of the tours opened up. And lots of times we have seen more tours offered once we got on the ship. On the Caribbean side, if you stop at Costa Rica, consider the Tortuga Canal excursion -- it is really great.
