Carnival Glory

Just got back from a Western Carribean cruise on the Glory. Overall it was a very good experience. Food was good but the nightly entertainment was terrible. On Thursday night the entertainment did not make it to the ship so the staff did an improv which was terrible and Friday night was Karioke with the passengers as the main entertainment. The dancers and singers for the week were also very bad. Ports: Cozumel, great stop with a beach stay at Carlos and Charlies beach. Free beach that costs about $10 round trip in cab fare. Food was excellent and the drinks were cold, shopping in town was great. Roatan Island: Went to Foster's in West Bay. We Were picked up by Foster's son. Price was $25 per person for transfers, beach chair and a drink. The beer was absolutely the coldest in the carribean. The reef is very far from this beach so if you want to snorkel, it's best to walk down to the other end of the beach and snorkel where the reef is closer and not have the boat traffic to avoid while swimming. The shopping for crafts in Roatan was very good. Go outside of the shops at the port and go to the shops on the street for the best deals. I found it safe with no hassels. Next stop Belize: Went cave tubing with Major Tom. The trip was great and Major Tom took care of us very well. He is very safety oriented and had his own buses that were in excellent condition (new tires, chrome wheels, well maintained) They kept a close eye on the time to ensure that we made it back with plenty of time. The caves were crowded with alot of other tubers but we had the best price of them all and if you choose cave tubing. I would recommend that you only go with Major Tom. Not only does he have a good price it was apparent that he is very well respected in the community. Last stop was Freeport. We went to the beach for $10 per person round trip for a cab and saved alot of money by not going with a Carnival excursion. All the shore excursions were very good.

Thanks for the review - sounds like Roatan and Belize days were switched again? (the itinerary on website has belize before roatan but most recent cruises seem to have these 2 ports switched).

Also wondering if you visited the piano bar and if so what you thought of the singer?

Thanks,

Robertsk-I agree with you -the entertainment (the Glory singers and dancers) were not very good. The girl main singer had a nice voice, but the male lead singer just didn't have the volume and pizzazz to make the shows go. I also found it very strange that they had only 1 show (for both dinner seatings to go to) on several nights. It was so crowded with nowhere to sit that we decided the second time not to even try to go. We had a comedian who was quite funny and a magician who was sort of fair.

I did like the lounge singers. Russell, in the piano bar, was very entertaining and "Summer Breeze" (a duet) was awesome! Make sure to go and listen to them!

We went to karaoke once and it was very funny. I felt like I was at the "American Idol" auditions. However, there were a few really good singers that came up to sing. I really can't say too much, because I'd be too chicken to sing in front of that many people!

They had many, many opportunities to have lots of different photos taken. There were a lot of nice backgrounds.

You know, I didn't go to a single show! I really just don't find them that enjoyable. Since we did late dining, and often weren't out of there until nearly 10, I found that I usually just went to the casino, lost my daily gambling allotment, and went to bed. Never went to Karaoke or the piano bar, either! The couple of times I tried to go see the Filipino band, they weren't playing. Oh, well. I managed to have a great time anyway!

Thanks for the info about snorkeling from Fosters. We just went as part of our island tour. Ate and had a few drinks and sat and looked at the scenery, but I would definitely go back. In fact, if I could afford the air fare, I'd go for a week!

We also went with Major Tom in Belize and really enjoyed ourselves. The guys were great, especially Mike.

It's been 6 weeks since we were on the Glory and it seems so long ago. All the weeks and weeks of anticipation, and then it's over in the blink of an eye.

To you recent Glory Western cruisers - did the ship change from EST to CST somewhere along the route? I need to know for sure before booking an private excursion in Cozumel. Also, has anyone posted the Capers for that itin anyplace?

If anyone knows for sure about the ship time....it would help a lot!! :)

The folks in Coz will know about any time differences, but they specifically tell you to stay on ship time.

I posted the capers on Webshots...

DD & I both have photos posted. Didn't take nearly as many as when we were on Miracle, since we didn't have a waterproof camera, so no pics from snorkleing in Coz or cave tubing in Belize.
