dave and bette Posted October 15, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 15, 2004 I am leaving on Sunday and this is our first trip with Carnival. Can you take cash out for the casino on the S&S card? I know with RCCL and Celeb you could do that. Just want to make sure I have enough $$ to gamble with. Dave

newbie2cruise Posted October 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 15, 2004 they wont give you cash either, just rolls of coins, or chips to play with. I love to play nickel slots and they wouldnt give me cash, so I had to put all those darn nickels in one at a time!! It stunk.
dave and bette Posted October 15, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted October 15, 2004 I don;t mind them giving me chips, I play craps and the wife plays the nickles too, but I could gove her some chips, cash them in and then go to the machines. I just have an issue of them charging 3% on the sign and sail card to give me the chips. Dave
bjkeen Posted October 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2004 You can go to the Purser's desk before the Casino and withdraw some cash without a charge.
hill6 Posted October 17, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2004 There is also a daily limit as to how much you can put on your card in the casino each day. I unfortunately cannot recall it. Please help if you know it.
Reneei Posted October 18, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 18, 2004 3% .. wow .. I will have to load up on cash before we go then. Thanks for the quick reply, Dave We rolled our own coins and took them as that 3% on the Sail and Sign(your life away)Card will add up. The machines do take all denominations of bills, from $1.00 to ???? and the tables will also but will give your change? in chips.
jiggs Posted October 19, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 19, 2004 at one time there was no charge, 3% is basically the overhead that CCL is getting hit with from your credit card company...its almost like a cash advance at a lower rate since its considered a 'purchase'...in the past people would get chips, never play and take them right to the cage...a cheap ATM and a great way to add up 'points' on your credit card...needless to say, this practice has gone down since the 3% rule... WannaCruiseSoon Posted October 19, 2004 #10 Share Posted October 19, 2004 The way I saw it, it is still cheaper than the ATM That is depending on how much you take out. If you get $100.00 the charge was $3.00 where the ATM was a $5.50 charge plus what your bank would charge. It shows up on your S&S bill as entertainment. The casino will also cash in your Travelers checks, and you can do this at the tables too, which I did not know until the last night LOL I would always go up to the cashier to cash them in then go to the tables. Then I saw someone hand in travelers checks at the tables I was like Oh man did not know that LOL
