Top Notch Casino?

Not sure what it was you found "seedy" about the casino you visited. All casinos in PR are located in hotels, and all are strictly regulated by the government. There's one in the Sheraton in OSJ, and most of the hotels in Condado (short cab ride) and Isla Verde (longer cab ride) have them. Perhaps you could look at the websites of the various hotels (google Condado hotels casinos) and find one that appeals to you?

We went into the casino at the Sheraton and did not find it seedy at all. It is right at the dock and it had a great restaurant/bar on the roof that overlooked the ports and ships. Had a cocktail upstairs to enjoy the view (quite expensive IMHO) but fun! We sat on the couches and relaxed before going back to the ship.

We thought the casinos might be fun to check out while in San Juan.. just not sure how far they are? Any info would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi

Here is a list of the various casinos on the island

http://www.visit-the-coqui.com/2008/02/check-out-a-casino-in-puerto-rico/

The closest casino to the ship will be the Sheraton in Old San Juan - The other Casinos to check out would be in the Condado area and Isla Verde area. For these two area you will need to take a taxi from Old San Juan (or a bus but this would be slower)

Taxi rates are fixed based on starting - ending zones so here is an idea of the cost

OSJ Zone 4 - Condado Zone 3 = $13.50

OSJ Zone 4 - Isla Verde Zone 2 = $20.50

more taxi infor here http://www.visit-the-coqui.com/2008/07/san-juan-taxi-rates/

Hope that helps

If you decide againsy hitting a casino, don't miss out on the sights of Old San Juan http://www.visit-the-coqui.com/2008/07/self-guided-walking-tour-of-old-san-juan-part-2/
