jerseygirl3 Posted April 8, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 8, 2004 I just booked the Majesty of the Seas for next Friday. It was very last minute, but my husband and I thought we'd surprise my sister and BIL who are booked on this cruise. Had to take basically what's left over...got cabin 2014 which is pretty far forward on Deck 2. How bad will this location be? We are used to balconies! Also, is automatic tipping onto your Sail and Sign card offered on the short cruises (3 nights?). Thanks! caribbeanqueen3@comcast.net
lmmn Posted April 8, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 8, 2004 You're going on a cruise...how bad can it be? We were on Deck 2, and it was pretty noisy below, but not enough to ruin our cruise. The Majesty is about 11 years old...cabins are very small...no safe. Once you get over the shock of the cabin size, it's all great. We had the best time on the Majesty. florida snowball Posted April 8, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2004 I was just on the Majesty last week. I was able to charge the tips to my sea card. I was on deck 8 so I don't know about deck 2. I know you will have a good time no matter what deck you are on. Enjoy!
cruzenbabe Posted April 8, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 8, 2004 It won't be bad at all. Because you have a busy itinerary, you won't notice anything about the cabin because you'll only be in it to sleep, wash & change clothes. One good thing aobut your cabin is you don't have to wait for elevators when you come back from your islands. Especially coming back from Cococay. Elevators were a madhouse. I loved Majesty. We had one of our best cruises on her. Be sure to go to the deck party on your Nassau day at 11pm. The DJ played slamming music (I hate bands) and have an open barbeque and buffet with chocolate covered strawberries. You'll have a blast.
want2seaitall Posted April 8, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 8, 2004 I'm in 2022 for the 4 night on 4/19...I've cruised on the Monarch which was a sister ship to the Majesty before her make-over...I don't know how different she is now. But we've been on two cruises...and had to go back to this class of ship on RCCL...we had the best time...same class of cabin...small indeed...but who cares...she is big enough that everyone is spread out...except for the pool area...and find me a cruise where the pool isn't crowded during peak seasons...and I'll book it...and small enough that the service is impecable and very personalized. We had the very best time and can't wait for next week. Sounds like you'll be getting off and we'll be getting on. Save me some coconut rum!!! until my Majesty of the Seas cruise! florida snowball Posted April 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Exalthim, Deck 8 was fine but all the ocean views are obstructed by the lifeboats. We had 8524 and 8526. I wanted connecting rooms and was not concerned with the view. The rooms we had were fine. This was our second time on Majesty. Back in Nov. we were on deck 5. I think I liked that deck better. (closer to the casino) The view is nicer. Have a great time.
FlorenceItaly Posted April 8, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Thanks for the information. We are traveling with a teenager, so I thought Deck 8 would be a good choice; close to the food, LOL. I wanted OV so we would not oversleep, so that is okay about the lifeboats. I will take into consideration what you shared about deck 5 though. Thank you. marie HAL - MAASDAM - June 2004/Canada/New England RCI - Mariner of the Seas, Sept 2004(CC Group Cruise) Carnival Miracle -February 2005 RCI Majesty of the Seas - Spring Break, March 2005 Celebrity Mercury, April 2005
birdcat Posted April 8, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Hey Kids - We (fiancee and I) will be on the Christmas Sailing. Just got off the Mariner (3/21-3/28) and couldn't wait to get on another ship. The three day quickie is just what I need for Christmas. We were on deck two on the Mariner and if you feel the motion at all, it will be minimized on the lower decks. Just a gentle rocking us to sleep. We will be on deck two amidships in December as well. Have fun and Happy Cruising! jerseygirl3 Posted April 8, 2004 Author #10 Share Posted April 8, 2004 Thanks for all the helpful replies. As somebody else mentioned, it's a cruise, how bad can it be! That is very true. It takes a lot for me not to have a good time. I am prepared for the fact that the cabins will be small, we don't have a balcony, it's only 3 nights, and the ship is older. We booked this to surprise my sister and BIL by joining them, and since it's so last minute, we didn't want to break the bank, nor did we have a big choice in cabin selection. We'll have a great time no matter what. Hey, it's still better than being at work, and I get to spend some time with my sister, who lives 7 hours away from me, so I don't get to see her all the time!!! caribbeanqueen3@comcast.net

Mark_K Posted April 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 9, 2004 ExaltHim, We were in 8564 last summer, and didn't mind it. It's nice to be able to see out even if it's mostly lifeboat. One thing, deck 8 cabins have safes, I'm not sure whether deck 5 does. Decks 3/4 didn't, I know that. ---------------------------------------------------------- "Nothing so needs reforming as other people's habits" Mark Twain "Nothing so needs reforming as other people's formal night attire, poolside attire, child rearing practices, walk-talkie usage, chair hogging, seat saving, line cutting ..." FlorenceItaly Posted April 9, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 9, 2004 Mark - Thanks so much for taking the time to post this information for me. We always use the safe and would have been disappointed not to have that available to us, so this is wonderful information. We are definitely staying put in this cabin . Thanks again.
