Snorkeling

Recommended Posts

Where is the best place to do it? I want to snorkel privately. I heard sapphire beach, not meagans. leaving in one month on the caribbean princess.

Sapphire is lovely. Other snorkeling beaches on St. Thomas include Cowpet Bay, Secret Harbour, and Coki Beach.

If you feel adventerous, take the ferry over to St. John and head to either Trunk Bay or to Cinnamon Bay. Trunk has a nice underwater snorkeling trail but folks who've gone there have reported back that a lot of the coral there has been killed due to folks touching it. You will see fish and one individual reported seeing an octopus there.

August is the slowest month on St. Thomas. You should not face any crowd issues on any beaches.

I have always heard that Coki Beach is the best for snorkeling. We did a cruise ship excursion to Buck Island and there were fish and coral to see, but not just swimming all around you. The only way to get to Buck Island is by boat.
