Payment Question

Greetings, everyone. I recently made final payment for an upcoming cruise. Owed about $3500 and when I received my credit card statement I noticed there was a $2500 charge to Celebrity and a $1000 charge to the travel agency. Does that make sense? In the past when we have been on a cruise and made payment it was one charge - I can't remember if it was to the cruise line or to the agency.

Thanks for your input.

I WOULD PROTEST THIS, it should all be one charge, only from Celebrity.

If you gave your agent the CC number, I would contact Celebrity for the fare. If your TA skimmed a grand, contest the charge with your credit card company right after a friendly conversation with your agent.

We just had a similar experience when we arranged a cruise. It is a "group" cruise of about 150 people being handled by the same agency....there is a $500 charge for both of us which was charged by the agency on our Visa....I did question the charge going to the agency and this is the reply I received:

Included in your Cruise package is the group pre-cruise full buffet breakfast on day of embarkation, a minimum of two onboard cocktail parties with open bar, a $50.00 USD shipboard credit per person), fruit plate delivered to your Stateroom, departing gifts, and our Bon Voyage Orientation Wine & Cheese evening. And of course, more importantly the services of your Hosts and Escorts

When I think about the services that this agency provides as we have used them before - they do spoon feed you through any issues and arrange some great get-togethers and the hosts are there to assist with just about everything I find that the charge is OK....but if it was $1000 then I would be concerned.
