Disappointed in the Splendor (photos)
I think you just have to take it as a given that any Carnival ships interior is at some point going to make you say "huh?" Now some ships are worse than others, but they all get a little sideways sometimes. I personally think that Farcus packs a hookah with him when he goes out to practice his....."art"......

In any case, I am certainly not going to avoid a ship just because it's interior is ugly, if I did, I couldn't go on most of Carnivals ships! I mean come on, have you seen the Sensation-al Purple People Eater?!?!?

I wish Spendor was coming to FL. I would gladly sail on her, the changes they have done to her upper decks put her above and beyond all of the Conquest class ships in my opinion. I can deal with the Pepto Bismol explosion going on inside.
She is doing a few sailings out of Ft. Lauderdale, before she heads west. We are on the 11/21, 8 day, sailing - San Juan, St. Thomas, La Romania, Grand Turk and Nassau - if you care to join us ;) :D .

I see by your signature that you are going on the Caribbean Princess later this year. We were on that last year for New Year's. It is a beautiful ship. You're sure to enjoy it.
Hi there, yep, just 43 days until our cruise. :) I expect the cb to look like the star and golden :p thanks for the kind words.
:) I was with you last year on the trip to Eygpt. I am on the Splendor in Aug.08 and I was not crazy with the interior photos posted on the web...I guess Carnival known as the Party Ships has to live up to their reputation and pink and that decor looks like party, party,party...
Hi kruzin, have fun on the Splendor - I can't wait to read your trip report! and see your pics  :D

Our Egypt cruise was awesome :)
Exactly my thoughts . . . I was hoping for the cabins to be something brand new and DIFFERENT. The cabins aren't unpleasant, I just expected with a new class ship and everything they would be DIFFERENT. :(
As for the rest of the ship . . . well, if you don't like Farcus, you probably will be disappointed. I, for one, can't get all those vases/cannisters/human ash containers out of my mind from the LEGEND, but then . . . that's Farcus . . . love him or leave him. :D
I do not know which is worse.....the vases on the Legend or the Seahorses on the Victory   ;) ?? But either are fine with me - when I am on a cruise :D !!

Last year we sailed on the Freedom and nearly got motion sickness from the amoebas in the decor. That Joe Farkus i(designer) is totally tasteless. The ship will be magnificent as long as you accept the decor for what it is: abyssmally ugly.

The vases were overpowering. But I'd sail Legend again with no problem!

Hahaha! Thanks Pamulla -- you just made me laugh/smile, a rare thing in the current bar-exam studying marathon I am in! I need to adopt your attitude towards the decor :)

True! Those vases are "everywhere" - but they would not stop us from sailing the Legend again. As others have said - the decor of any ship would not stop us from sailing.....ever!

We are much more interested in our balcony and the ocean.....and we can tolerate almost anything to get those two things ;) !!

I started working less than a week after the bar exam (yes, it's been 23 years but it still gives me the creeps:eek:) - I envy you your trip!

But I betcha you don't envy the next two weeks I am going to have :) Into the 10 day countdown, I cannot wait until July 24, 10:15 am, freedom! (and back to trip planning!) OK, back to vested remainders subject to open...

Getting ready to try our first carnival cruise on the spirit .. and this has been an interesting thread .. I never really gave much thought to the perceived garishness of the Carnival ships .. but when you read it on the Carnival board it does make you say hmmmmmmm ..

Will be interesting to see what we think ..

I am not interested in the Splendor only because I think cruise ships are getting tooooo big .. For instance the CB is the Sapphire/Diamond Princess with a new deck of cabins and no more public space.. feels crowded .. and that is getting to be the norm .. HAL did it with Eurodam too .. I do believe we will be looking at the smaller ships from now on.

ill try to sift through and find some pictures on my camera to load. i have about 600 on there.

well, I felt like i was in a kotex commercial the whole trip, but after about 5 days i got use to the dots. I LOVE the new lido deck design. Purely brilliant.

I would be nice if Carnival would do some type of different decor on the new ships - They should use new decorator some time for new and different looks. I'm sure management loves his work and for the most part they are interesting but very similar from ship to ship. They need new look on new ship - something classy not outlandish!
