paddy Anne Posted July 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2008 We are heading to Fort Lauderdale 3 days pre-cruise to shop!:) we will have a rental car so don't really need to be beside the beach or port. any ideas of a decent hotel with a good price that has a fridge in the room. we want to save money by grocery shopping. cheers, Paddy Anne
megr1125 Posted July 12, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 12, 2008 The Springhill Suites by Marriott in Dania near the aiport will have them...and you can probably ask for one in many other places. THe Embassy Suites on 17th should have them, as well as Extended Stay America (with a kitchenette...you could probably cook if you wanted-but they don't generally have shampoo or tissues in the rooms... ) That's a start...... If you want a really nice mall..the Aventura Mall in Aventura is maybe 20 minutes from FLL..and there is a very nice Residence Inn by Marriott across the parking lot...full kitchen (or at the minimum, a cooktop...and a big fridge, mircowave, dishwasher...some 2 Bedroom units will have an oven) and there is a Publix grocery around the corner...PLUS generally Mon-Wed or Thurs evenings they have a "social hour" with free food and beer and wine. When I was there, one night was burgers and hotdogs and grilled chicken I think, one night was mexican night....! WOrth a look! PLUS free breakfast too! willysgrandma Posted July 12, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 12, 2008 I stayed at the Extended Stay. It had a full size refrigerator, but as the poster above said, it is pretty no frills - there really were no tissues! It was very clean and the staff was great. It is fine for one night. jillyfish Posted July 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 19, 2008 Not sure what a "good price" is to you. Gallery One/Doubletree is newly renovated with full kitchens in their suites.

emmysmommy Posted July 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 19, 2008 If you don't need a large fridge and want a reasonable priced room, free cooked-to-order breakfast and a nice pool area, I'd recommend the Embassy Suites. We stayed there pre-cruise and then stayed at the Renaissance after our cruise. Good luck and happy cruising.
