maria1234 Posted July 12, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 12, 2008 :) My hubby and I have passports and I have sent for the girls. We are sailing on the Mariner next month with friends and they said that they were told that b/c are fine for their girls, who are 5 and 9. Did they hear correctly? I thought that ALL passengers needed b/c's or cards. Thanks!

So yes - birth certificates alone are fine for children, birth certificates plus a valid US ID (Drivers License) are fine for adults. Still a good idea to get the Passport - like you have done - but your friends will be fine. The only trouble is if they need to be evacuated from an island or Mexico. And how often does that happen?
cherylandtk Posted July 12, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 12, 2008 Yes, they heard correctly, just make sure that they bring BCs that are certified (issued by the state or county) and NOT the hospital issued mementos.
