Aurora Borealis

We were on a cruisetour from Aug 18-28, 2007. We had plenty of clouds and sprinkles. The only real rain was Juneau and it poured.

However, when we reached Fairbanks, it was clear. Lots of activity was reported, and low and behold, about 1:10am, my friend got some shots of the Borealis. I was in bed fast asleep. Nothing I want to see that badly to stay up until 1 or 2 in the morning.

You may or may not see them on the ship, as it has to be dark, and the ship is sometimes all lit up.

MnBruce, I loved your picture and I am so jealous. I will be on the Westerdam on the round trip Alaskan cruise starting Sept 21. We are taking it mostly because of everyone's schedule but in the back of my mind I was thinking - maybe this is my chance to see the northern lights.

Thanks to everyone for all the tips and suggestions.
