We will have a few hours after we leave the ship (August 9th). Our flight does not leave until 4:15pm. Obviously we would like to do something post cruise until around 1pm or so. Our group will consist of 6 adults and a 2 year old. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

Hello kidnk9,

That really isn't a lot of time, considering everything. Probably the easiest thing would be to book a tour with your cruise line. That way they take care of your luggage. And the take you to the airport on time.

If you don't do that your first problem is what do you do with your luggage? You could rent a car, and then the luggage would be with you. But you'll need a good size van for all of you. And you'll lose a lot of time with having to get to the rental place, do the paperwork. And then you'll have to return it in time to get from the rental place to the airport. And still arrive by 2:15 pm. Not really much time there to make it worth your while.

Some ships offer luggage check in service on the ship. So if you are among the lucky one whose ship does this, and who's airline participates, and if they allow it to be done for the later flight, well then you might be able to take advantage of the time. This would allow you to just take a taxi to Las Olas, or to the Water Taxi. You can ride that for one price all day. They give a tour as they go.

The only other idea would be to see if you can find a hotel that would rent you a day room. So you can just relax by their pool, or beach. (Even better if they have a shuttle to the airport.) I've heard that the Pelican Grand Beach Resort does day passes for part of the year. They have a nice pool area and are on the beach. http://www.pelicanbeach.com/

Still, you don't seem to have enough spare time in there to make that a good idea.

Good luck with what ever you decide.

I would grab an outdoor table at Big City Tavern on Las Olas and have a great lunch and people watch!
