Peaceful Posted August 2, 2008 #151 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Is that available through regular room service? Or is this some special Platinum Guest room service, or something? Bon Voyage gift; small canape tray around $15; we called room service to have it delivered, so I misspoke a little. We order one of these each cruise for an at-sea day cocktail time. Brought our own champagne and small cans of mango juice for the drinks.
OHS81 Posted August 2, 2008 #152 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Jobster71 - you had some nice pics of food on your Ecstacy cruise. :) I was on that ship back in 2001 - nice improvements have been done. InTheWASide - I miss Everett, Seattle, I'm a Bremertonian :) Is the "foam" on the carrots melted whipped butter? I love peas..all of it looks good to me :p
newistcruiseaddict Posted August 2, 2008 #153 Share Posted August 2, 2008 So I started a Food Porn thread thinking I was the first...DUH! Thats what I get for not doing a search first...I bow to corban! http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=820408 Here are some more I found. Behind the scenes galley tour on Inspiration "Surf" on formal night aboard the Inspiration. (By the by..anyone know what that gray stuff is? Saw it in another pic...is it beans and rice?) Cookies, complements of our steward! Ps...i had stomach pangs when I saw that pic of the reuban...one of my all time favorite meals.

BND Posted August 2, 2008 #155 Share Posted August 2, 2008 So, if you look at my signature, you can tell I'll be trying Carnival for the first time next year... Where on earth do they charge for little pastries?!?! At the cafe which serves, latte/desserts/espresso. They also have cake. On Glory it's called Creams. We get our latte fix there. newistcruiseaddict Posted August 2, 2008 #156 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Peaceful~ I am considering ordering the canape tray for my MIL and FIL for their 30th anniversary...its available on carnival.com as a preorder for $16 for 3 doz. Was it tasty? AKA...was it worth it? I'm also considering the chocolate covered strawberries but I know my FIL doesn't have a sweet tooth so it would be a "bit" unfair. Peaceful Posted August 2, 2008 #159 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Peaceful~ I am considering ordering the canape tray for my MIL and FIL for their 30th anniversary...its available on carnival.com as a preorder for $16 for 3 doz. Was it tasty? AKA...was it worth it? I'm also considering the chocolate covered strawberries but I know my FIL doesn't have a sweet tooth so it would be a "bit" unfair. In my opinion, it was well worth it. The salmon was so mild, smoky, and tasty; it was wrapped around cream cheese. There was roast beef "salad" (for want of a better term); mushroom caps with red and yellow peppers; and a veggie bit in the front of the picture. This was ordered as a gift for my 2006 cruise, and I was so impressed with it, that I ordered it for the past April cruise. We are sailing with 4 couples on the Splendor in November, and will be ordering the next size up to share with all of them. Some people have said they did not think it was that great. I am a foodie, and I say it was great both times. I would not order the strawberries, as they are available at the coffee shop for far less than you will pay for them to be delivered to the room. $16 is really not much to spend when you think about it. I say go for it; your family will enjoy it. There will be a card in the room whereby the recipients call room service when they are ready for the tray to be delivered. We eat at the latest dining time, so planned for it at "tea time". Hope they have a memorable trip. Please be sure to read my review of the Inspiration linked below. If you enjoy a calmer excursion, read about our Mexican cooking and tasting experience in Cozumel. I would so do that again. Food, unlimited drinks, beach, and shopping. GlendaleCruiser Posted August 6, 2008 #167 Share Posted August 6, 2008 I've only sailed on Princess and Carnival. Not impressed with Princess food--just good, but didn't impress. Carnival food, however, is the best! Mango Cream soup--yum. Lobsters, have them bring 2 to start. Don't like the entrees? Order a steak just how you like it. Not the supper club--main dining. Warm chocolate melting cake......mmmmmmmmmmmmm....... Pumpkin soup...oh yeah. There are so many choices and so many good things. I agree with other posters--ask the waiter. They won't steer you wrong. They know what is the best and the faves. I tell my waiter that I will be wanting a double decaf espresso every night after dinner with dessert and I always get it every night after that (until they kick me off the ship).
