In Lahaina" Old Lahina luau or Feast of Lele

Our cruise ship Radiance of the S:confused: ea is tendered in Lahaina oct 17 2008. Would you recommend OLL or Lele? How far is it the the Feast Lele & what transportation is available? Thank you

We've been to OLL, never the Feast so not really qualified to judge. From posts here, the Feast seems to get better reviews, although the Luau usually gets rave reviews:)

We did the OLL in Jan and really enjoyed it. The food was very good, drinks also were good and there was lots to go around.

The only part missing was the firedancers but we caught a shoow at PCC in Oahu.

We also liked the fact that it only holds 500 people , it's on the water with sunset.

If you do decide to go book as asap as seating is by reservation and they sell out fast. Also unless your young and limble don't take the floor/pillow seats.

Cant help you with transportation as we had a car rental.

The Old Lahaina Luau showcases traditional Hawaiian music, dance and food. The reason you didn't see fire dancers there is because they're Samoan, not Hawaiian. The Feast at Lele is a sit-down affair at cloth-covered tables where you are served at the table, and takes you on a tour of Hawaii, New Zealand, Tahiti, and Samoa through music, dance and food. http://www.feastatlele.com/ Be sure to check out the video clip.

 

I believe both are owned by the same company. You just need to decide which experience appeals to you more.

It depends entirely on the experience you're looking for and the ages/interests of the people attending. Could you give us a bit more detail? That would be very helpful because the two are so very different.

For transportation to OLL, you can use a taxi. It's not too far to walk, about 1.5 miles or about a 30-40 minute walk. Another option is the bus, but the last one is 9:10 pm, about the time the luau leaves out. It could be crowded. The Radiance leaves at 12 am, so you would have time to walk:)

Thanks for the replies. We are tendered there & Luau i from 7:00 am to 11:00pm. There is 4 of us over 6o yrs old. Here is our dilemma: We are considering a RCCl tour to Ioa Valley until 12:30.. One priority is some beach time at Kaanapali Beach by taking the bus. We are waitlisted at OLL & considering Feast at Lele . Thanks for the video info, looked great. Our problem is getting changed after the beach. We might not have enough time to tender back To the Radiance, change & tender back for a luau. Considering skipping the Iao tour & doing the beach. Are we trying to do too much in Maui? We also have an overnight in Oahu, 12 hrs in Hilo, & about 9 hrs in Kailua-Kona. Another option is doing a Lalu in Oahu. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you Ray:rolleyes:

Wanted to give my opinion about OLL. We went to Hawaii for the first time last yr. We've been cruising for many years. Needless to say, we'll be cruising less and going to Hawaii more!

Anyways, stayed in Kaanapali and went to the OLL. It was a wonderful experience! Beautiful grounds and worth doing! Didn't care for the food. Some was ok. The show was good and a must do....a luau that is.

 

I think you'll be in Maui a few days? If you can rent a car and do the Road to Hana, it's beautiful! Lahaina is a neat town to walk around and shop.

 

Anyways, we LOVE Hawaii. Thought maybe someday of cruising, but we just loved sitting on the beach night after night watching the sunsets and not worry about getting back to the ship.

 

Not giving up on cruising as we have one booked in a few months. But we have to wait to go back to Maui til next yr.

I think I would save Iao Valley for another Hawaiian trip:) Head for Kaanapali about 9 am, return to the ship about 3, then either the Luau or the Feast at Lele. That should make things a bit less hectic. Some nice restaurants at Whaler's Village for lunch:D

I was going to suggest restaurants in Whalers Village. Nice place to shop as well. Sounds like you've been there and know the good spots. :D

Actually Leilani's in Whalers Village was the first place we ate on our first trip to the Islands in 1988. Also ate at Rusty Harpoon but never at the Hula Grill, maybe this October we'll try it. Here's a link for Whaler's Village

This will be our ninth trip to the Islands, so I'm a big fan of leisurely sightseeing and not trying to do too much in one day.

We loved the Hula Pie at Leilani's! Good food! We were very happy with the Hula Grill as well. You can't beat eating dinner while watching the beautiful sunsets. Oh, it's bringing back memories for us. Our condo was next door to the Whaler as well.Loved the Kaanapali area.

You're smart not to try and do too much in one day.

 

Next yr we'll spend 10 days there. Can't get enough of Maui.

We like Hula Grill and Leilani's for lunch. Rusty Harpoon was okay (not bad, just not "wow" the time we had dinner there).

I had a booking for my husband and I on the 22nd oct cruise and just recieved an email telling me my booking hs been cancelled. for thr Lahina Luau.
