montycjv Posted October 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2004 Hey there...Has anyone taken the Jolly Roger Excursion while In Barbados? We'll be there next month with the Dawn, and are interested, but is it worth it?..also, would kids (11 and 8yrs old) be OK on this cruise, or is it a "party boat"? Thanks to all.:o
OCruisers Posted October 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 18, 2004 Montycjv .... Actually, it is a "party boat"! :o Yet, there are things older children would enjoy very much! Swinging off ropes, diving off planks, and just being on a Pirate Ship is FUN!!! Yes! Will say without apology that we often took ours (starting at 3rd/4th grade ... wouldn't take really young ones) on the MORNING excursion offered. They always absolutely LOVED it -- by far their favorite! Please Do Consider: Do your children swim well enough to really take advantage of the things offered? Are you OK with your children being around adults who are drinking (sometimes TOO much rum punch)? Will your children completely understand that they are on an Adult Excursion and stay with you at all times? Note: It's a big boat! If you feel a situation is becoming uncomfortable -- take the children to a different place on the boat! Many, many  on Jolly Roger with older children/teens and we NEVER had a problem. Jolly Roger has been around for a LONG time! Both of ours are out of grad school now and doing well ... so guess it didn't hurt them!!!! :p We still go on JR from time to time and it always remains as we remember it -- LOTS of FUN!!!! :D Hope this helps a bit! YOUR comfort level is very important here. Happy Sailing! OCruisers :)
