CruizinMom2c Posted July 21, 2008 #26 Share Posted July 21, 2008 I think we got there around 10:30 or so...and was on the ship by 11:45....there was a good amount of people there...but we were in the first row behind the wedding party that got in... NOLA has a good large area for waiting...so if you have to wait at least you wont feel too crowded.
beachbum6264 Posted July 21, 2008 #27 Share Posted July 21, 2008 We have never had a bad debarkation experience out of NOLA, but my parents did once - they had to wait 2 hours to disembark because of a certain series of events the cruise line had no control over. We've definitely experienced some "room for improvement" moments, but we're always off the ship and in our car by 7:30 AM, so we can't complain. The only other port we've sailed out of was Galveston, and that debarkation took a lot longer than we've experienced in NOLA. I was assuming that the music festival had some effect on the number of customs agents that showed up for work that day! I know that Carnival is not in control over that, but it does have an effect on the total cruise experience. This was a "relax" weekend for dh, and the debarkation stresssed him right back out (he does need to learn to "not sweat the small stuff" I know, I'm working on that, but haven't been able to do much about it in the last 30 years :D ) I did stop at a market soon after leaving NOLA and got him some "liquid relax meds" :D :D :D so all was good!
