bookfairy Posted July 19, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2008 I was wondering if dual voltage appliance actually work okay. Someone wrote in a post the almost fried their hair. Is a converter better? Do I need an adaptor for dual voltage appliances?
pjtraveler Posted July 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2008 You will need an adaptor to plug a dual wattage appliance into a European plug. Most of the plugs on the River Ambassodor are European--only one in the bathroom is not. When I travel in Europe, I usually take 2 or 3 adaptors so that I can use more than one charger or appliance at a time. (I routinely carry a converter also--just in case I need it!) GlobeMan Posted July 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2008 Here's a tip: Bring a 1' long standard US style extension cord with 3 outlet sockets on the end. With that, you can charge up to 3 devices at once using a single converter/adapter. Those adapters/converters have a hard time holding the weight of a transformer so the extension cord allows you to put your transformer (charger) on the floor or a table.
