This taxi scam has been around for a long time, and I am glad you posted for people going to Rome..now I hope they read it.Not all driver's do this and for all my visits to Rome I have never had this happen, but I make sure I have Euro in all denominations and I make sure to hand it slowly to the driver, and have him face me at all times...they can sense almost who they can do this to I swear. Also, always make sure they have a meter that is working, and check it when you get in.If a cab is called for you from a hotel or resto there may be a charge as this is a waiting charge and legal in Europe, but not a rip off!!! Saga Ruby Posted July 23, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2008 What an excellent warning to keep tourists from being ripped off. Yet another scam game but, as we all know, knowledge is power. Thanks for posting this head's up. Ruby
