Wennfred Posted July 26, 2008 #26 Share Posted July 26, 2008 Is the Platinum Card the "Sign and Sail "Card that You receive when You board?I become Platinum with My upcoming Cruise in Sept.2008. mom2girls Posted July 26, 2008 #27 Share Posted July 26, 2008 I have 2 more cruises to go until I am Platinum. So, I am also hoping that I will be Platinum by this time next year.
glrounds Posted July 26, 2008 #28 Share Posted July 26, 2008 The way people are cruising Platinum may not mean much soon. The Past Guest Parties are getting bigger and bigger. They have gone from the aft lounge to the theater. In a couple of years they may encompess the Promenade deck. If half the ship is Platinum VIP embarkation and priority tendering want mean much. Then its time for Carnival to break out that BLACK ELITE card for 20 cruises ! ! :D Let's see . . . all the perks of the PLATINUM with a private party fot the BLACK ELITE where members get ONE FREE excursion, ONE FREE dinner at the Supper Club, and entry into a drawing taking place for a FREE CRUISE ? That ought to do it.

richfret Posted July 26, 2008 #30 Share Posted July 26, 2008 Some one mentioned about a VIP lounge to wait in prior to cruising. I think that that only happens in certain ports. Is their a lounge in the Ft Lauderdale port because if there is, I never found it?
Wennfred Posted July 26, 2008 #31 Share Posted July 26, 2008 Long Beach and San Diego doesnt have a lounge, Miami does. Fred
terri910 Posted July 26, 2008 #32 Share Posted July 26, 2008 ...and don't forget the free Slot Tournament pass. Fred Last cruise was our first as Platinum guests....and our tablemates (who also happened to be Platinum) said the same thing! Neither hubby nor I had ever been in a Slot Tournament before, and it was a lot of fun! Neither of us made the final round, though. Still....a free shot at $500? Yeah, baby!!! Robert6260 Posted July 26, 2008 Author #34 Share Posted July 26, 2008 I will use my free entry for the Blackjack tournament. I always get in those and have won one. I still have the 24K gold plastic ship on a stick.

Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted July 26, 2008 #37 Share Posted July 26, 2008 I would not be "bold" enough to go to the front of the line to see the Maitre d'. On our recent Inspiration sailing we went there shortly before George (the Greek) was there, so we decided to come back about 20 minutes later. When we returned there must have been 50 people in the line (wrapped back around the atrium near the glass elevators). We were in line 30 minutes easy. Upon getting to the front of the line to see George, he went above and beyond the call of duty and placed us at a perfect table. One thing that stood out (though did not tarnish our Platinum card one bit) was that the Purser was OUT of the MILESTONES REWARDS stickers for our Platinum cards. Not a biggie by any means - though it then appeared that we might have "only" had 10 Carnival cruises under our belt rather than 25+ LOL Many of the staff, when you present your Platinum card to them, will ask how many Carnival sailings you have been on. Always a good conversation starter. Tom

You know, I had the same concerns. Then someone (I think it was Fred) explained on another thread that there are usually only about 20-30 Platinum guests on the average cruise. Thats only about 1% of the ship. Even if those numbers double due to to the increasing number of cruisers, its still a relatively small slice of the population. Yes, you do have to wonder why Carnival does not throw a private party for Platinum guests... not like it would take that much, and it would be a nice added perk. A much more intimate affair than the PAST GUEST PARTY - we have not bothered with that in several sailings!!! Tom
emporess Posted July 27, 2008 #40 Share Posted July 27, 2008 This will be my 10th Carnival cruise!! The free laundry is a huge perk. Is there a limit to the laundry? I will be the only platinum out of my family of four. It would be great if everyone's laundry could get done. Also, if I don't have cruise documents and just the funpass, how will I prove that I get VIP embarkation? I guess I can bring a copy of my cruise history. southbayer Posted July 27, 2008 #41 Share Posted July 27, 2008 Thanks for the close up pic Tom. I have a couple questions to ask. I don't remember any of my sign and sail cards having my stateroom number on it. Is this done for platinum guests ? Is the milestone sticker put on for new platinum guests, an onward like you ? Or do you have to have as many cruises as you ? Also, can you get the free wash and fold service on the first night of the cruise ? I will be doing back to back on a different ship, same port. thanks! I would not be "bold" enough to go to the front of the line to see the Maitre d'. winddawn Posted July 27, 2008 #43 Share Posted July 27, 2008 I agree Tom. We've never been to a past guest party. We will be going on our sixth Carnival cruise next month, and have four others booked.

There is no Stateroom number on the card. Cabin: S2 is something else, the last thing they need is someone finding your card and heading straight for your cabin. I will be doing back to back on a different ship, same port. thanks! I don't think you would have any problem getting your clothes washed free the first night of the cruise. That may be easier for your room steward to wash then instead of during the middle of the week when everyone asks for clothes to be washed. Cabin: S2 is something else, the last thing they need is someone finding your card and heading straight for your cabin. Fred Cabin S2 (Sports Deck cabin #2 - aka Owner's Suite 2 - aka Penthouse 2) was on that card as THAT cabin still required a separate key to enter. In any situation where your S&S card doubles as your cabin key (almost all now??) they will not place your cabin # on there. For obvious security reasons. Your Platinum S&S card is adorned with the Milestones Reward sticker at cruise #25 and beyond. There are a few threads regarding that Carnival program. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=637109 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=814182 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=748740 http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=781481 I would assume that the wash and fold could be taken advantage of on ANY night. When you meet your cabin steward on day 1, I am sure that he can help you out. I have seen laundry given in the morning return as early as that evening. Usually it is on the next day - occasionally the following day. Tom
Wennfred Posted July 27, 2008 #47 Share Posted July 27, 2008 Your laundry will need to be bagged and labeled and sent out before 10am,(cabin steward picks it up in the morning when he makes up the cabin) so that you can get it back the same night by 6pm or when they make your room. If the bag leaves after 10am then you will see it the next morning. Fred
pungo3 Posted July 27, 2008 #48 Share Posted July 27, 2008 Thanks for all the good information on Platinum. The free laundry seems like the best perk to me! I hate putting dirty laundry in my suitcase.:(
shortstop95 Posted July 27, 2008 #49 Share Posted July 27, 2008 We're platinum and enjoy the many benefits that come with it. The one benefit we've never taken advantage of however is the priority tenders. The halls leading to gangway back up so, there's no way we were going to "flash" our platinum cards and push our way through. So we just wait. Is it true as earlier poster reported you can go to the Purser's Desk and be escorted to the front of the line? If so, all I can say is WOW. As much as I would like to think that everything moves like clockwork, this is Carnival, and we are all human. Getting laundry back on the same day can't be guaranteed - no matter what time you give it to them. We have sailed several times, using this service on many ships, and have seen variable results.
