Rare Lobbylin Posted July 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2008 Would be grateful for any info from anyone who has stayed at the Grand Plaza, Coleman Street. We stay there everytime we visit Singapore - mainly because it is within walking distance of Clark Quay / Boat Quat for great nightlife and restaurants along the river front.(7-10mins walk) Also there is an MRT underground station just 2/3 mins walk which gives you access to most of what Singapore has to offer. Having said that, taxis are plentiful and cheap. The MRT is very easy to use and as with most of Singapore, exceptionally clean. You can also walk to Chijmes (good restaurants) 5 mins away, and shopping at Raffles city shopping center (5 mins) Raffles hotel is about 10-15mins walk to sample a Singapore Sling.:) In the evenings they have happy hour in the hotel bar and there's a lovely lady who comes and sings there most evenings. Enjoy!
Rare Lobbylin Posted July 27, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2008 When you arrive into Singapore be sure to ask the taxi driver for the Grand Plaza Park Royal on Coleman Street (near City Hall MRT) as there are TWO hotels with very similar names in Singapore;) It's about Sing$25 from the airport

Scottie Girl Posted August 2, 2008 Author #6 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Thank you for your replies. We have now booked the Grand Plaza for our 3 night stopover in March enroute to Sydney for a pre cruise stay.
Rare Lobbylin Posted August 2, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Scottie Girl - look at viator.com for some ideas of reasonably priced excursions whilst you are there. I have used them in the past. One of my favourite treats is afternoon tea in the Raffles hotel. It's more a meal than afternoon tea - lots of wonderful nibbles and they refresh your tea-pot continually. We didn't need to eat again that evening! http://singapore.raffles.com/z912/restaurant_07.html
Scottie Girl Posted August 2, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted August 2, 2008 Than you for your advice. We are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary while we are there so will probably celebrate with a singapore sling in the long bar at Raffles during the day and have a nice meal in the evening. Probably a really nice chinese restaurant near to the Grand Plaza.
