Shopping in Old San Juan

My sister in law wants to go to Old San Juan and shop at a market place and look for bathing suits for her daughters. Someone told her they are very cheap there. Also she wants to go to the Coach outlet.

Are any of these places close enough to the ship port or do we need a cab?

Depending on which pier your ship docks at, you may be able to walk to the shops, or you'll need to get a cab.

 

I _believe_ the FOS docks at Pier 4, right in Old San Juan. If that's the case, just get off the ship and walk a couple blocks into the shopping area (mainly the blocks bounded by Fortaleza and Christo streets). Just wander. There are shops everywhere. If memory serves, the Coach store is at or near the corner of Christo and San Francisco streets.

 

If you ship docks at the Pan American pier on the south side of the bay, then you would have to catch a taxi ($11.50 one way) into the heart of OSJ. There's no way you can walk that.

While you're walking around, you might want to follow our self-guided walking tour, which goes past most of the "kodak picture sites" and around in the shopping areas.

Best place for swimsuits in OSJ is Marshalls (yep, just like home) on the Plaza de Armas across from Walgreens. Cristo or Fortaleza for other

shopping.

I just looked at a receipt from OSJ. It's 7% -- a 1% city tax and 6% state tax.
