Chazon Posted July 27, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2008 I have a couple of questions regarding flying overseas. 1) medications - just bring them in prescription bottles? 2) vitamins - any problems carrying these through customs - UK? I take 5 different vitamins, and carrying 5 different bottles of vitamins would just be too bulky. . . Thanks!
ab0si Posted July 27, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2008 I have a couple of questions regarding flying overseas. 1) medications - just bring them in prescription bottles? 2) vitamins - any problems carrying these through customs - UK? I take 5 different vitamins, and carrying 5 different bottles of vitamins would just be too bulky. . . Thanks! If the meds are non-gels/non-liquids, bringing them n the Rx bottles is fine. I often cheat and dump them together in one container (I do carry the Rx script with me, though) and have never had a problem -- but none of the stuff is narcotic or other seriously controlled substances). That said, it is "safer" to carry them in the original container. I don't bother with my multi-vitamin when traveling, so no comments there other than I dump my ibuprofen in with the RX pills. Mapu Posted July 27, 2008 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2008 1) medications - just bring them in prescription bottles? Yes 2) vitamins - any problems carrying these through customs - UK? I take 5 different vitamins, and carrying 5 different bottles of vitamins would just be too bulky. . . We usually just put them in smaller labeled containers. Have never had a problem. Sometimes we count them out ahead of time and use those cases that contain a weeks worth. Hope this helps.
cindep Posted July 28, 2008 #4 Share Posted July 28, 2008 We just got back from the UK. I had purchased a pill minder that had 16 individual packets for my pills. I dumped the appropriate ones in each packet and wasn't questioned at all about my pills. I did have the prescriptions' (the ones you get from the pharmacy) tags in a zippered compartment, but was never asked for any proof. We flew into London Gatwick and was surprised at how easy immigration and customs was. In fact, we had to ask someone if we'd already gone through customs as we only talked with the immigrations officer. Others may have horror stories, but it was VERY easy for us.
