ParrotHeadFL Posted October 19, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 19, 2004 Throwing around the idea of buying drink cards... Are soft drinks served in the dining room during meal times free?
newbie2cruise Posted October 19, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2004 Only if you are under 12.
IBEEMOM Posted October 19, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 19, 2004 the soft drink cards are about $30 each. You have to drink a lot of soda to justify the cost. Why don't you bring some with you in a soft side cooler and have the cabin steward keep it full of ice. A lot less dollars.
tbrown Posted October 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 19, 2004 Pack your own and take an insulated cup to pour them in so it easier to take with you. Don't forget your own water for ports because this is expensive also.
woodman Posted October 19, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2004 Is this true the children under 12 are sereved soft drinks at dinner free? As in no charge? If so this is very interesting indeed. The first time I have heard of this. Thanks this could save me $30. come JANUARY and my next cruise with my Grandson. LOL
Cotton Posted October 19, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 19, 2004 Absolutely! Children under the age of 12 have complimentary soft drinks in the dining room. I don't believe this applies to Lido buffet dining. As suggested above, take a six-pk of soft drinks - Carnival allows this.
ParrotHeadFL Posted October 20, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted October 20, 2004 I seem to recall reading that the cards cost $5.50 per day, when you broke it down. A canned drink is $1.50, as I understand it. So if you get more than three drinks in a day, you're better off with the card. Or is my math off? nancychic Posted October 20, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 20, 2004 FYI: Carnival cruises out of Galveston had free juices (apple, OJ, and lemonaid) available all day long in the buffet/pizza area).
kathy7558 Posted October 20, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 20, 2004 I remember that the cans of soda on board were $1.50 each, but what you get with the soda card is a fountain drink, with ice, so probably not a full 12 ounces like in the can. Also, they had the 24 ounce plastic bottles for $2.50 and this was easier to carry around than the can or glass.
bjkeen Posted October 20, 2004 #10 Share Posted October 20, 2004 I thought the soft drink card was worth having. As long as you have a few cola's a day.
