Must Eat - Grand Cayman

You know.. I have seen a lot of "must see" threads but I haven't seen a thread dedicated to "must eat" local food.

 

What have you tried in Grand Cayman and your recommendations?

Although not unique to the Caymans, we had some really good conch fritters there. SOOOOOOO good. I take FULL advantage of the fresh seafood with local flair while on cruises. ;)

OK - slam me .. I prob'ly won't come back anyway....

 

want Cayman unique food? Turtle.... Cayman ain't the only place you can get it, but you can find it easy. Conch fritters or a conch burger ... Bahamas or a couple of miles from my house in Florida (I wonder how much is actually clam tho).

 

Spousal unit and I still talk of a (US) Thanksgiving diner of Turtle Cordon Bleu in Grand Cayman.....

 

Cayman still raises turtle commercially for consumption so you are not depleating an endangered species

 

btw...tastes like chicken and available all over the island.

My must have food is at Hemingways. Its on Seven-mile Beach. It was beside The Hyatt Regency but it has changed to Grand Cayman Beach Suites. The Conch Fritters & Crab Cakes are the best I've ever had. The sauce is awesome. I always get the conch fritter sauce for my crab cakes too.
