Majesty Oceanviews question

We are considering an oceanview for a Bermuda "amily group" cruise on the Majesty. Noting there are 5 small category cabins on 3/4/6/8(obstructed) and 3 larger option on decks 3/7/8/9, we are looking for guidance. The biggest question from those in our group has been a concern over the rough water impact on the two lower decks. It seems like the 4th deck wouldn't be a problem, but maybe deck 3.

 

I've read some pretty postive comments on many of the Deck 8 obstructed views, but there are no insides on that deck for families wanting an inside for their travelling companions.

 

Others are wondering what would give them more value, the lower outside, or a lower, larger cabin.

 

One other issue compounding the problem is the need for one cabin to have a 3rd party, so once they decide on the category, that room may not be possible for them.

I would definitely go for the larger cabins... the extra square footage is well worth it. We've been in both the standard 108 square foot cabin and the larger 140 square foot cabin -- while both are laid out well, the larger one is definitely more comfortable. I don't even think the smaller outsides will accommodate 3 pax.

 

Both Decks 3 and 4 should be OK. One word of caution if you choose Deck 6 -- try not to be too close to the casino as the noise does travel, although the casino will be closed the whole time you're in Bermuda.

Go with a superior oceanview on deck 6 if you want the space. They are the same size as the superiors on deck 8 and they cost less, plus there are inside cabins across from them.

 

I agree with previous poster, stay forward on deck 6 as the casino can be pretty noisey at times, that is unless you enjoy hearing the ringing of the slots while you drift off to sleep :)

 

I can't really comment on deck 3 or 4 as I have never seen the outside cabins. Pay for the extra space as it is well worth it!

Your advice on Deck 6 must be on the money, as those cabins are gone. when we were going over the ship layout the other day, trying to balance price and space needs for key members of the group, category by category, I noticed that neither NCL or a TA site I was using showed any pricing for those "C" cats. So, I asked our TA du jour, and she confiremed they were gone. I thought as much, as for the price, location, and flexibity for our group, they looked good.

 

So, with money tight for some in the group, I'm back to the lower decks, but the TA told me the 3rd and 4th decks were port holes. In looking at the ship photos, cruiseclues.com cabin layouts and pictures, they appear to have actual windows, though not really picture windows as the NCL brochure states.

 

Thanks for the guidance, this process is driving me nuts. As the "group leader", I sure realize why they deserve a free cabin. However, I'm planning to rebate any money returned, as many are young couples, two with new homes. I'm also concerned a bit with the TA, as the more prices I get from her, some of them are getting higher than other quotes I have received, even counting the credit. And then, if for some reason we fail to get the 8 cabins, we will have a problem in "Houston". I need to confirm the port hole question as well, and that will bother me, too.

We have stayed in cat D twice, Superior Ocean view, deck 3. They have 2 windows, side my side, not port holes!!! If you look at the website, they have a picture of the ocean view rooms, just picture 2 windows and 2 bureaus between the beds.

 

I think that all the superior ocean views are the same size. 145 sq feet. At least that's what I have read.

 

We have fit 4 comfortable in these D rooms. This past August it was me, my boyfriend and my daughter and her friend, we were only in the room to sleep, so the size of the room didnt matter. Shower time was tough, we sheduled the kids showers for the pm and ours in the am.

We stayed in cabin #368...both times (may04 & sept04) Loved it! Very affordable, great cabin steward & stewardess, rm service every a.m. & the view of St. George was incredible. Good luck.;)

Thanks for the info; I've passed along the comments to our "core" group, who will basically determine what kind of cabins we will put on hold for the group. Right now it is a mix of oceanviews and insides on the lower decks. It's not as easy as I thought it might be, basically trying to mesh those with specific needs and desires, like a mom and two kids needing one of the few such cabins, and one couple needing a large outside, and a small inside, etc.

 

The TA is already holding some cabins, we just have to modify the cabin types and put down some deposit money to make sure we get what we want and need.
