Just_Wondering Posted July 29, 2008 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2008 My fiance and I will be in Orlando on the 17th after our cruise & will fly out at 11:35am on the 18th. What I need are a few recommendations on a hotel for that night. What we are looking for is a hotel which has the following: Free (or very cheap) shuttle to and from the airport Hopefully under $100 A short walk or cab ride to an area where we can spend the day. As for things to do on our day in Orlando, we really dont care. But we'd rather not be stuck in the hotel all day because it is out in the middle of nowhere. KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted July 30, 2008 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2008 1) The Holiday Inn Express - Airport has a free shuttle to/from the airport. Rooms are $74.95 prepaid/non-refundable and a bit higher if you want a rate you can cancel. It would be a short (10 min) cab ride to the Florida Mall, the largest mall in the state. A 15-minute cab ride would get you Sea World or Aquatica. 2) Walt Disney World's budget hotels are running at $64/night. They have the free Magical Express service from the airport. Not sure that a 1 night stay qualifies but I've not ever heard of any short-stay restrictions. Once on property, there is free bus service throughout WDW including all the theme parks, water parks and the Downtown Disney shopping area. Nightlife remains open at Pleasure Island. Just_Wondering Posted July 30, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted July 30, 2008 Both of those sound like very plausible options. Thanks
Just_Wondering Posted July 30, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted July 30, 2008 I just wanted to clarify here. You meant the "Holiday Inn Express Orlando International Airport"?
Sue (mom of 3 boys!) Posted July 31, 2008 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2008 I'd second Disney value resorts. You can hang around Disney property and not spend a dime. Downtown Disney is a lot of fun, as are any of the resorts.
KINGBOBOFTHENORTH Posted July 31, 2008 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2008 I just wanted to clarify here. You meant the "Holiday Inn Express Orlando International Airport"? Yes. Holiday Inn Express. There is also a Holiday Inn Select near the airport but I would think they're quite a bit higher. BobK/Orlando
royalcruz Posted July 31, 2008 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2008 http://www.regalsunresort.com/ This newly renovated resort is offering rooms for $59 for AAA members, and $69 otherwise. They are walking distance to downtown Disney and also have free transportation to the Disney parks. I don't know if they have free airport transportation. Just_Wondering Posted August 5, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted August 5, 2008 I wanted to thank everyone who gave advice. I ended changing plans a bit and decided to rent a vehicle in Canaveral instead of taking the shuttle. I bid $45 on priceline for a 3star in orlando and ended up with Holiday Inn Main Gate East
