Why the Celebration, not the Holiday?

Just to clarify, these ships were just transferred to another Carnival Brand, so they werent "sold." Jubilee was transferred down under and she was built in 1986.

Im sure it has to do with logistics. At the time Carnival had too many ships in San Juan so they chose to send Jubilee to Australia.

Yes, Jubilee is now Pacific Sun, she recently encountered a monster wave which injured 42 pax. Read more here http://www.usatoday.com/travel/cruises/item.aspx?type=blog&ak=53543698.blog

Now this is nothing official...just MHO...but

I think since both ships are headed to the same cruise line, they elected to send the Celebration first because:

1. It needed less "work". The Holiday is having brown water (rust) problems and has had a bent shift thingy forever that I am sure they are going to want to correct.

2. If a larger ship for Mobile really is in the works (since Mobile approved $3 million for a new gangway) Carnival is waiting for the larger ship to send to Mobile before sending the Holiday away. Hopefully reducing any lag time in cruises like we are seeing in Jacksonville.

John Heald posted some great pictures of the Grand Celebration some time back on his Blog. I am sure we will see some great pictures of the Grand Holiday in the future.
