Rome to Venice. Looking to try again next year

We were booked on the July 11th Insignia trip from Rome to Venice. After much debate we took what we thought was a very generous offer from Oceania to sell back our cabins. The trip must have been way overbooked as the offers got progressively better. We're thinking of re-booking the same trip for next summer (July 14th)...two cabins on deck 6.

Is there anyone who was on that trip and has feedback we can use? The ports are exactly the same.

Thanks

We just booked for the Sept 16th sailing of that cruise for 2009. I would also be interested in any insight for that cruise and itinerary. This will be our 1st. cruise with Oceania and we have heard only good things about the line. We are also on deck 6...#6054.

Well as far as the itinerary goes, that is an amazing one. We've done many of those ports over various cruises and love them all. Portofino is still our very favorite and we just wandered around, walked up towards the church, ate a long lunch at a seaside cafe, my husband hiked all the way to the lighthouse. Monte Carlo is again a great place to just wander around, or you could hire a private driver to go to Nice or Eze, or I understand you can take the train over to Nice, and thats a fun place as well to just walk around and shop and eat. Florence is a great city, we just took the ship transfer and again spent the time wandering around on our own. If you want to go to the Ufuzi or Academia, usually there are long lines unless you get tickets ahead - problem with that is that they are time designated, so if you miss your window that could be an issue, might be a time to do a ship excursion that would bypass the lines. Sorrento is wonderful and of course from there you can do Pompeii or Capri, or just Sorrento. Taromina was one of the prettiest places we've seen, we just took a cab from the tender pier, about 30 minutes to Taromina, wandered around, fantastic views and walked up to the Greco Roman Theater with more fantastic views, did a little shopping, had some lunch. Corfu was OK, actually remindined us more of Mexico, but we did not take a tour there, and there might be some worth looking into. Dubrovnik is amazing and we and another couple got off the ship early and walked the entire wall, then needed refreshment, it got very crowded, but the old city is beautiful - again there are other tours to other parts that might be interesting. The rest of the ports we have not done, so cannot comment.

Have a wonderful cruise.
