Lattitudes Lounge

We are taking our first cruise on the Jade as Lattitude members and have been reading on the boards about the Lattitudes Lounge.

Can anyone tell me if this facility is for all levels of lattiudes and if so how is it accessed (we have not received anything from NCL apart from our Lat.No.)

Is there are any other perks I should know about? ...apart from dedicated check-in desk ( we are in a Penthouse so maybe we can give that a miss)

Any info. much appreciated

Just got off the Jades British Isles cruise. There is nothing special you need to use the Latitudes Lounge. All you do is sign in when you enter. They stock it with coffee, tea and pastries during the day and cakes at night. Nice room up on 12 deck-quiet (could snooze there if not careful) lots of games to play or tables for card playing.

Recent Jade Reviewer menitoned "latitude lounge". Never heard of this before on other NCL ships? Is it a large room-a small room? WHERE is it on the Jade? What all is in there?? Wow I really curious now! Thanks!:D

Yup, there is one. I just came off the Sky and I took pictures of it. (Check the webshots link in my signature.) On the Sky it was next to Captain Cook's Bar.

On the Star in April and the Latitudes Lounge was located on Deck 12 Forward in what was formerly the Lifestyles Room I believe. Fresh coffee, pastries, etc. were available. If memory serves me right all you had to do was sign in although at one stage they had an attendant who checked your Boarding card to verify you were indeed a Latitudes member He wound up tossing out several people who weren't! Nice and quiet set-up and a great place to relax!

Does anyone know if I can take a guest (who isn't Lattitudes) into the Lounge with me?

On my Star cruise in June, there was no one monitoring who entered the room, so I suppose you could take a guest. But after you see what the lounge consists of, you may not want to bother. The room is basically a game room with a number of card tables, and has coffee & snacks (cookies, pastries). That's it. No comfy overstuffed chairs/sofas; no TV, no reading material.

The snacks are generally also available at other locations on board, so there's not much point of going to the Latitudes Lounge to get them. You can also play cards or board games in the nearby game room. So, bringing a guest into this lounge may not be as much fun as you may think. These Latitudes lounges can also get busy toward the middle and latter parts of the cruise, as more people discover them.

IMHO, the Latitudes lounges bear little resemblance to an airline "club" room, or an international first class departure lounge. At those special places, it is fun to bring a guest with you.

Dawn converted a game room into the Latitudes Room (Deck 12 I think). I ran into there a few times to grab one of the great chocolate chip cookies. I think only once or twice did I see another person there:eek: .

You're right about bypassing the Latitudes line at check-in - in NY we went to the waiting area for the suite pax and were escorted to the area where you will be checked-in; in Miami after you enter the terminal, you will see reps from NCL holding a clipboard - just let them know you are in a PH (they will ask your name/suite number) and once they confirm, you will be be escorted to the suite check-in line and then to the suite waiting area where you will meet the concierge who will then escort the group onto the ship. Once onboard, you will be met by one of the butler staff who will escort you to your suite.

These were our experiences Miami in 4/07 and NY 6/08. Different embarkation ports may have different procedures. Either way, you will love the suite life:) .

I just saw blackerbys photos. Could you please tell me if the Jade's Latitudes Lounge stocks Monopoly? If so, we won't bother to bring our own.

We often used the lounge (especially in the evening) and found quite a few games there - including Monopoly. One word of caution: some of the pieces might be missing or mixed in with another game. This is a self-serve, self-monitoring area so things get a bit mixed-up. Sometimes there were several of the same title and sometimes just one so be flexible if game already in use. Lots of decks of cards, however.

Does anyone if there is a Latitudes Room on the Spirit? If so, where is it located?

Thanks,

Hello!

I believe it is on deck 12 starboard just outside of galaxy of the stars... in either the "card room" or the "mahjong room" on the deck plans, I forget which.

so far is an old card room that was renamed the Latitude Lounge. It is a room that is empty, has coffee & danish in the AM, cookies & coffee in the afternoon, with tables in it. Guess they think Laitude members will frequent to meet others there. But they may add a Latitude agent to sign up new folks taking the cruise.
