Ships "Listing"

Recommended Posts

icon_eek.gif Just curious, I've read few reviewers complaining about ships having a "Titanic Like" list abruptly and w/out explanation from crew. Sounds frightening! Is this common? We had some 8-10 feet seas on our first cruise, but the ship barely swayed! Is this a mechanical or weather related thing?

Probably what you read about was from human error. (Serenade)

No, it's not common and can be from a variety of causes. When it happened on the Serenade it was crew error, when it happened on Radiance, it was a sudden 65 mph wind squall.

Our waiter on Serenade said that there were SEVERAL crew members fired by the captain after the Serenade list. It was human error.

It happened to us on a different cruise line and "they" say it was a computer malfunction. The ship was on auto pilot at the time and it decided to do a rather quick turn to port. There were many injuries and we were met by about a dozen ambulances at our next port.

A bad day cruising is better than a good day at work.

The worst cruise I ever took was pretty damned good.

Platinum with RCI, a couple cruises with NCL and 1 with CCL

Who's coming with us on the Norwegian Sun?
