Ships "Listing"

Just curious, I've read few reviewers complaining about ships having a "Titanic Like" list abruptly and w/out explanation from crew. Sounds frightening! Is this common? We had some 8-10 feet seas on our first cruise, but the ship barely swayed! Is this a mechanical or weather related thing?

No, it's not common and can be from a variety of causes. When it happened on the Serenade it was crew error, when it happened on Radiance, it was a sudden 65 mph wind squall.

Our waiter on Serenade said that there were SEVERAL crew members fired by the captain after the Serenade list. It was human error.

I still believe it is caused by all the interference from walkie-talkie RF waves.

It happened to us on a different cruise line and "they" say it was a computer malfunction. The ship was on auto pilot at the time and it decided to do a rather quick turn to port. There were many injuries and we were met by about a dozen ambulances at our next port.
