Beware of giving Passport Information

I'd just like to tell everyone what happened to us and to ask you to please be careful when giving out information on lost and stolen Passports. Several months ago, my daughters ex-boyfriend started stalking her and causing as much emotional damage as he could. Knowing that we were booked on a cruise the following month, he decided to report her passport as lost or stolen. Luckily, we received a letter from the Passport service several days before our cruise, and with the cooperation of our local police, state police and FBI, we were able to get it reinstated. Of course, we were did bring her drivers license and birth certificate just in case we ran into a problem. Knowing that the ex-boyfriend was very into computer forums and many of the screen names that he used, I was constantly searching the internet for signs of what he might be planning next. As a result, I found his inquiry about losing his passport and then finding it and what would happen if he used it so that I was able to alert the police before it happened. I know that everyone on this website means well and wants to help their fellow travellers but PLEASE, think twice before answering a post that sounds "fishy" to you.

I remember reading that post and his two subsequent inquiries. I thought it odd at the time that instead of reporting to the proper agency that it had been found, he seemed obsessed with the answer to what would happen if it were scanned. I went back and checked and those three posts are the only ones he ever made. All on Feb 28th---am I correct?
