Houston Hobby to Galveston

Recommended Posts

We are going on the Rhapsody 10/31 out of Galveston, Tx. Any and all suggestions on how to inexpensively move 18 people (9 are children),from Houston Hobby airport to Galveston hotel the day before the cruise are welcomed.I am currently looking at 60pp charges for the transfers. Anyone know of any car rental agencies that allow a pick up at Hobby and a drop off in Galveston for a one day rental ? So far, the only one I have found is Enterprise. Please help if you can. Thanks !

We took a cab. It was about $75 one-way for two of us. I believe you can get 4 adults in the cab for the same price. We shared a cab (4 of us) back to Hobby and it was the same price as going. Depending on the size of the kids, you should get at least 4 maybe 6 kids into a cab. Good luck.

I just got back from a cruise out of Galveston. At the same time we arrived, a whole family of prob. ~20 people got out of a charter mini-bus type thing. I don't remember what it said on the side, but something must be out there. We used Enterprise for a one-way rental, call the Galveston office directly as they have special rates for cruise line passengers...they may be able to get you something bigger. Good luck

Enterprise and Hertz are the only two car rentals. Enterprise is by far cheaper, charging only $25 drop fee for a one-way. Recently, Enterprise started staying open Sunday am for cruise passengers only from 9-11:30. Also, you don't have to be there by the 12 noon closing on Saturday or the 11:30 am closing on Sunday. Enterprise has a drop box for your keys and a phone next to it with numbers for the local taxi to the pier. So don't sweat the closing times.
