Can anyone tell me if it will be chilly and/or choppy on the way to the Med from Southampton? We are due to go in 6 weeks' time.

Difficult to answer. Weather should be nice and warm unless you are very unlucky. As for the sea? debatable as it depends on wind direction. We came round the canaries last month on QE2 in a nine but it was behind us and we didn't feel a thing. Now side on would be a different story.

I'm not sure I can believe that question! The weather forecasters can't even get it right for one week ahead let alone 6! It could be like a millpond or blowing a hooligan.

Well we have had a awful August, so perhaps you will have a great September - who knows? I have a balcony on 12th Sept on Ventura for a weekender, perhaps I'll be lucky too!!!:D

You're very right. I think the op just wanted a general guide for the time of year. I think they will be ok but as you say, it's very much up to the gods:)

We usually sail out of Southampton most Septembers, and so far, maybe we've always been extremely lucky, but its always been calm and by the time we reach Bay of Biscay its lovely and warm. Am I speaking too soon???? We're on the same cruise as you, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

6 weeks time makes it late September/October. October is usually the month for gales and rain. Mid September is the equinox. But you can never tell.
