Pecangirl Posted August 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2008 I've heard several times now that Mt Etna isn't worth the long drive to see it- Opinions or other options you can recommend??
voyager70 Posted August 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2008 If you want a great view of Mt. Etna without an actual trip there, I would highly recommend a trip to Taormina. It's a beautiful town perched high on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean. There's an ancient Greek amphitheatre with an amazing view of Mt. Etna. When we were there, you could clearly see the smoke rising from the top of the mountain. Plus, Taormina is wonderful. Enjoy!
Maureen4 Posted August 8, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2008 That's a tough question. I just went last week on a tour and was surprised how far it was from Taormina. About 2 hours. It was amazing to see but after about 15 min not much to do. I personally wouldn't do it again. Spend the time in Taormina and at the beach there. Either way you'll have a great day.
