Small Review of Splendor 7/25 Sailing

Hello all. Just wanted to drop a note to say we are back from our Splendor Baltic cruise. We had a wonderful time. We stayed in the 8P balcony cabins on Panorama deck and were able to open one of the balconies to make a larger one. We had early seating (only 2 seatings available, 6pm and 8:30pm for both dining rooms). We were in the Black Pearl and had an absolutely wonderful waitstaff team. Melvin and Melody were fabulous! Melvin is from India and Melody is from South Africa. Melvin dances and sings and did the dining room shows with such panache! He also would tell us jokes at the end of the evening while clearing the table. He was very carismatic and friendly. If you have him for your section, you will greatly enjoy him! Melody was also wonderful, but she was much quieter. Very friendly and helpful.

My mother-in-law was with us on this cruise. She uses a walker and both Melody and Melvin were very helpful to store her walker out of the way so it would not interfere with anyone else, and to make sure that she had everything else she needed.

Our stateroom steward was Romeo and he did a great job keeping the rooms cleaned. My mother couldn't believe the size of the cabins. She kept thinking it would be super small and not have any room. We had to tell her on the 2nd day that she could store the suitcases under the bed. She thought they were like some of the hotel beds on a riser. She loved her cabin.

We only did excursions in St. Petersburg and Tallin. The other stops we either didn't get off at all, or got off and wandered around on our own. We enjoyed everything and the staff was wonderful. Especially the embarkation staff in Dover.

My mother's boyfriend mistakenly packed his passport in his suitcase and they ended up having to sort 6,000+ suitcases to find his so he could get on board! To those of you who wondered why we sailed late, that was part of the reason. The other part was due to a truck being late coming from Heathrow with luggage. They (Mom and her boyfriend) were the last passengers to board. They were pulling the gangplank in as they were running to beat the Purser on board!

Despite the rough start for her (missed first night's sit-down dinner and ended up eating on the Lido), everyone had a great time. She's now hooked and plans to set up a cruise for herself and her mother!

Everyone who has a sailing coming up, enjoy!
