Courtyard Villa upsell, what would you pay?

We have a chance to upsell to a Courtyard Villa A3 on the Jewel from a AD Stern. I know we already have a great suite, but I'am curious to know what some of you would pay for the upsell. We have never been in a A3 and I won't know what they will be asking in extra $$$ until I talk to NCL sometime tommorrow. Just want to get some ideas as to what bargaining options I have---by seeing what deals others have made!!

Thanks in advance,

We paid $800pp going from a mini suite to the A3. It was worth every penny. Our last cruise they offered us the OS, but the wanted $1900PP, we took the AB for $500pp. Same as A3 except no courtyard, so we spent the week in the spa. Enjoy your cruise.

We paid $300/person (for the two of us) to go from an aft AF mini-suite to one of the two A4s. That was the maximum we had decided we'd spend (and had been the original offer to go from the AF to an AE, which we declined). We knew we had no realistic expectation of getting the offer and were astonished when we did. I think it was because the two A4s and one GV were the only things left. The A4s have only the one bedroom and sleep two max, plus the balcony is the teeniest we've ever had. (The A3 balconies are significantly deeper because the suite is set further back from the hull to start with, thus more leftover space for the balcony. Still we had the Courtyard, the Courtyard Sundeck, and all the extras that come from being in a villa. What a steal and what a great time.)

CAS called and they can't make us a very good deal . We're going to stay with the AD and use what we would of spent for the Courtyard Villa in the casino!:D Maybe something better will come along before Oct. cruise.

Thanks for your imput wahine56 and beachchick!

Good to hear that CAS actually did offer you an upsell, even if it was expensive. We had always been told that cabins booked thru CAS weren't eligible for upsells. You might still stand a chance, however. On our last cruise, some casino friends were given a suite upgrade a few days before the cruise. Our booked suite was the highest category available, so of course we had nothing to upgrade/upsell to. Was the offer close to the actual difference in current rates?

The price was approx. the same as what the CAS discount would normally be. So no actual savings.:(

I should add that because our cruise price went down, CAS did adjust that price. Saved about $118.00 more. It always pays to keep checking your sailing to see if prices have dropped, but only if you HAVE NOT made final payment. Ours is due Thursday!

Is this usually the case---you are not eligible/considered for upsells if booked with Cas? I booked my first cruise through Cas, but truthfully since booking there have been sales that would have provided a better discount[i did not call, as it was after my final payment]. The only reason I ask, is that there are probably many sailing who paid less than me with the sales, so seems we "cas bookings" should not be excluded from upsell opportunities??? I am just curious---as I plan to enjoy my cruise and cabin no matter what! As a newbie, I just want to learn all I can;) .

AFAIK, CAS booking are not eligible for the "cheap upsells". But I can confirm that we have seen at least one case of a free upgrade prior to sailing. That case (same as ours) was a comp oceanview cabin. We paid the difference to upgrade to an AC when we booked, they were upgraded for free to an available AD just a day or two prior to sailing.

Retired: Sorry to hear that the offer was not lucrative, but it is very early for upsells (I assume about 3 months away?). Who knows, perhaps a better offer closer to sailing or a free upgrade are heading your way! Also glad to hear about the rate decrease - we usually book after final payment is due, but we will keep an eye on pricing in the future!

The only time we were offered an upsell was on the only non-CAS booking we had (although all CAS bookings were made in the best available suite, so who knows). It was an offer from an AC to an A3 - for somewhere around $1100 pp (memory fails!). We declined, but did not know we could counter-offer, or we might have.

We where just really wishing to try out the A3, but now it's just more money to play with in the casino. Our final payment is due Thurs. so we have 75 days tell we cruise!:D

Seems like all our CAS bookings have been better than any sales, but we book AE's and above and of course they never have a sale for them.:(
