Ship Tour-Nice and Monaco on your Own???

Recommended Posts

Has anyone gone on this tour with RCL? It is 9 hours and I wondered is it too long in Nice and Monaco and how long is the drive and is it an enjoyable ride? Would appreciate any feedback from someone who has done it. Thanks.

We did this excursion through RCI on the Voyager last month. This was one of the two ship excursions that we did. The rest did did private tours.

I did not feel like we had too much time in Nice. It was about the right amount of time to walk around and have lunch. In Monaco, they take up to the top of the Rock of Monaco. It is quite a walk, down then back up the hill, if you want to walk to the rest of the city or if you want to see the casino. There is a tram (extra charge) that will drive you through the city, but drops you off back on the top of the Rock.

We decided to the RCI's tour because of the tenders, but looking back, I wish we had booked private tours. My two least favorite days were the days I used the ship's tours (Nice & Palermo).

Hope this helps,

Syndee

We always do these ports on our own. It's an easy ride on the train/bus and you can do both places in the same day.....

To me Monaco has much more to offer than Nice, parts of which need a bit of a polish. The square, casino, palace and old town in Monte Carlo have a lot more style than scruffy Nice. Much prefer Cannes to Nice as well :p

We didnt do this exact one..... but ours was Nice, Eze, Monaco and Monte Carlo.

We tendered in Villefranche - then a bus to Nice with free time there. Then to Eze with free time to walk to the top, shop etc. with lunch at the White Horse Restaurant (included) which was very good. Then to Monaco where they gave us a little tour and then we had free time on our own (we made a beeline for the Jacques Cousteau Oceanagraphic Museum), then the bus took us to Monte Carlo where we also had free time to wander, shop, go in the casino etc.

We don't normally do ships tours either. But we did a combination of private tours, ships tours and on our own and enjoyed all of them.
