Costest Posted August 13, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2008 Has anyone done this tour? and do you know if it is at/in the Monteverde Nature Preserve? From the location on the map, it looks like quite a distance from the dock for a 5 hr tour. If you did the tour - how was it? Thanks much. omeinv Posted August 13, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2008 I can't remember the name of the location, but we did this tour on a Panama Canal cruise in December of '06. The bus trip is the better part of an hour in each direction. However, our guide was excellent, and used th ebus trip to provide quite a lot of interesting information regarding the history, commerce and natural of Costa Rica. Also both the guide and driver kept sharp eyes out for wildlife viewing opportunities en route, and we stopped a few times to see things. The skywalk trail itself is an all downhill hike, with 3 or 4 pedestrian suspension bridges. The guide again did an excellent job of pointing out things of interest. After the hike, there is a shourt stop at the obligatory little tourist place, where you get the included fruit and drinks, along with the opportunity to buy junk. That being said, this particular junk shop is in a very pretty little inn, so the setting is nice if you choose to just wander around while others subsidize the cost. This was a very good excursion, and when we did it the price seemed reasonable on the front end, and an absolute bargain at the end of the day (more than our money's worth). We took the afternoon trip, which gave us more than enough time in the morning to see Puntarenas (not the most scenic town we've ever been to).
