Reasons for OBC

Can anyone tell me of some of the reasons that Carnival might post an OBC to an account?

I would like to be aware that I am recieving all of the OBC I qualify for. Maybe I could spend it on something else.

Price adjustments and compensation for some issue that occurred on a previous cruise are the most common reasons. Some TAs will offer OBC as a perk with booking with them, but it's not a given. Many group contracts will include OBC as part of the group rate/deal. You can also buy OBC ahead of time by buying Fun Ship dollars before the cruise. If you are due OBC, you'll know it.

Do (or can) Carnival PVPs ever give OBC not related to price adjustments? I have never seen this offered but I read another post on here stating that a PVP gave someone OBC and price change/adjustment was not mentioned.
