Deck 7 is the Promenade Deck. You can walk all the way around on it outside. That means that if you have an Oceanview Cabin on this deck, you must keep your curtains closed all the time - kind of defeats the purpose of having an OV! There is also noise from people standing right outside your window, whether from their stamping feet or loud arguing or drunken shouting.

In 2002, there was a running track, and we could hear the runners in the morning as they'd pass over our room. I guess that's what Merion_Mom was talking about. It wasn't terrible, but if you're a light sleeper, it may make a difference. I haven't been on the Monarch since then, and it's since been refurbished, so I can't say if the track's still there. We were in room 6534, oceanview.
