LindaKE Posted August 16, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2008 Will the pools be crowded on port days? Although this will be our fifth cruise, we've always gone on excursions so haven't seen the pools when we are in port. This time it looks like we will be going ashore only for shopping trips and will have a lot of time on the ship. If we can sleep late on those days and still get a spot by the pool, this might be a plus. I tried to do a search but kept getting error.

On our last cruise we did 6 ports and stayed onboard 1 day and the pool area was very pleasant and much less crowded!
jkrislc Posted August 16, 2008 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2008 Port days are the best days to spend on a ship. Even at ports that don't have much of a draw, a lot of passengers go ashore leaving the ship very empty. Pools will not be crowded, restaurants will have faster service, public rooms will be empty, etc. We have a stop on an upcoming trip that we're not thrilled about and are considering just enjoying the ship that day. zimmerjulie Posted August 17, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 17, 2008 No, in my experience, the pools are not crowded on port days. Usually just the opposite...a very relaxing time to have the pool (mostly) to yourself.
Hi de Hi Posted August 17, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 17, 2008 We returned to the ship early on one day with a view to having a swim only to find the pools and spas were netted over.
*Wink* Posted August 17, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 17, 2008 You probably already know this, but sometimes, there are some cool tours of the ship offered during port days.
CastawayCruiser Posted August 18, 2008 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2008 On our last cruise we arrived in Nassau late and decided not to bother going to the beach as planned. We went to the pool instead and we were the only two people there! It was fantastic. To be on a ship with 2000 people and be the only two in the pool and hot tubs was the best. It only lasted for a while but it was a great afternoon...
