Foreign Currency on Journey..

We are going to do a Baltic cruise..does anyone know if Journey sells foreign currency on board for various countries like Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Russia and Denmark? We will get some ahead but don't know if we need to get for all the countries ahead of time or not. I know they have Euros but not sure about the others..

We did the July 7 Baltic cruise on the Journey. You are in for a real treat.

We were able to exchange money at the guest relations desk for all countries

except Russia. I don't think Russia allows it. The ship used the Bank of America exchange rates. You can also use ATM's in all of the ports.

if you get euros on the ship, do you charge it to your on board account or pay with travelers checks or cash? is this a good way to get euros? we will be on dec 03 cruise. thanks

I always try to get Euros and in this case, also, rubles from Bank of America before we go..then if I need more can get on the ship. Oceania either charged the account or let you turn in crisp US dollars..

Our experience in the Mediterranean and land travel in Italy and France (not in the Baltics or St. Petersburg since we don't go there until next June) is that getting local currency from ATMs often provides the best alternative (i.e., least cost in terms of conversion fees). Just an idea - but of course if convenience is more important than saving money, then either purchase foreign currency in your home country or on the ship.
