Just got off the Granduer

Recommended Posts

I just returned home today after a 5 night Bermuda cruise on the Granduer. I have to say the crew on this ship is the BEST I have ever seen. The CD Dan "the man" Whitney is great, as is his entire CD staff.

Getting on the ship in Norfolk was a breeze. We got to the port at 10:45. We were in the Windjammer by 11:30 eating honey stung chicken:cool:

The food in the Great Gatsby is very good. The windjammer food is ok imho.

The only complaint I had was not receiving my C&A coupons until 4 requests. They came late the next to last night:eek:

I showed the Pursers desk what coupons would have saved me money (for example I bought internet time and a coupon was for $5 of internet time) The pursers desk credited my account for several purchases therefore solving the situation. Like I said, great crew.

The first day we had a drunk guy "feeling up" women, some of which were 13-15 years old. Security "secured" him in his cabin until we made it to Bermuda. He was then escorted of the ship. I heard that the FBI is involved.

I also heard that RCI is selling the GOS:eek: I asked several crew members if it is true and a few said yes while a few said no.

The highlight of my trip was when my wife and I won first place in the Love and Marriage show. When got some great prizes.

I highly recommend the Granduer.

Enjoyed your comments on the Grandeur. She is one of our favorite ships and we also think that the crew is outstanding. We were last on her in Feb for a 5 day and have a 10 day booked on her this coming Dec when she returns to Tampa.:)

Hi,

We just got off the GOS today too and had a great cruise! The weather in Bermuda was great and the tips in the Bermuda forum were very helpful.

Went to Crystal/Fantasy Caves, Horseshoe Bay, Dockyard Festival, and Fort Hamilton. A few of us went to the glass beach close to the Dockyard and you could barely see the sand it was so covered in glass!

We also saw the drunk man on the pool deck at the sail away - we were wondering what happened to him because that was the last time we saw him the entire cruse!

I really hope this is a false rumor! Grandeur is a beautiful lady in her prime still! RCCL would be foolish to get rid of her in my opinion!

If you saw the very "flamboyent" blond hair man with sort of a mohakish hairstyle, that's the same on:eek:

Hi Kevin...glad to hear you had a great time..as did we. Amazingly, we were up at sailaway for quite a while and never saw the drunk man. In fact, I didn't hear about it until we overheard a woman who was waiting for a bus with us at Horseshoe Bay.

Yes, the crew was very friendly and the food very good. I even noticed a few new items on the menu (at least new to me). This was our third time on Grandeur, and we did, however, notice that she's showing her age a little bit.

We did enjoy being able to drive to the port, for once!!! And the weather was just perfect both days on the island. On our last trip, it was rainy one day, and our trip back was the roughest I've ever experienced. So rough in fact, that it was highly suggested that passengers stay inside. Everything on the pool deck was anchored down. Needless to say, the ship doctor was quite busy.

For you future Bermuda cruisers...hope you have just as much fun as we had.

WOW, We missed the drunk guy but glad you posted that information as it was a good conversation piece for my DD who is 15. Good to reinforce and discuss and that those situations arise, although rarely, and how to handle them.

We loved the Grandeur. Our first RCL cruise and the staff was just fantastic. Especially the Matre'd, dining staff and room attendant.

Weather was fantastic, maybe too nice as it was so calm one of our excursions, the parasailing, was cancelled due to a lack of wind. Made for a great wave runner excurion though as opening up full throttle on those calm waters was truly beautiful.

Only complaint I have is that I wish it was a 7 day with an extra day in Bermuda and another sea day!
