Cruzman Posted August 23, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2008 Agree with Bob relative to NCL! All other things being equal, Princess would be my first choice. Carnival vs RCCI, depends on the ship.
ce2000 Posted August 23, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2008 I have cruised all of these lines and can recommend all of them except NCL. The itinery on the Carnival looks best to me. Since you haven't cruised with RCCL this might be the time to give them a try. I just cannot recommend NCL. Go, enjoy.
Deaf Dude Posted August 23, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 23, 2008 I wouldn't base it on cruiselines. I'd go with ports and prices over lines. If you do want to try a new line, RCCL is closer to what you are used to with Princess and Carnival.

Bob, you can only be nickle and dimed if you let them! I bet you paid a lot less for that NCL cruise than all the HAL cruises listed. The food on NCL isn't lousy and you know it! It isn't as good as HAL but it's not lousy and I have sailed on them twice. I have not had a "lousy" meal on NCL, not even close. You get what you pay for in this world and to make up for a lower cost for the cruise, NCL has sales on the ship to try to entice you to spend your money, but you don't have to participate. They're kind of like K-Mart with their blue light specials.:D

trish1c Posted August 24, 2008 #11 Share Posted August 24, 2008 There are different cruiselines for a reason. People have different tastes. I love freestyle! If people want something else, OK. Look at the lines you are considering. Make a chart. Which is offering the most stuff you want at a price you are willing to pay. sail with them. The only food I don't like on NCL are the steaks at Cagneys. I just don't think they are top quality cuts. Everything else was just fine.
SOMBRERO6 Posted August 24, 2008 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2008 I have to give this one to Carnival. Cruised RCL twice and Carnival twice. We had much better food, entertainment and more fun on Carnival. We choose our cruise based on their ports. We try to stop at as many ports as possible. Shawns6t6gto Posted August 25, 2008 Author #13 Share Posted August 25, 2008 Thanks everyone. What I should have said is that my wife is a teacher and we can only go on a specific week. I am leaving toward the 8 day with Carnival" Shawn
ce2000 Posted August 25, 2008 #14 Share Posted August 25, 2008 I believe that Carnival is a very good choice. It is a lot of fun, the food is very good, even at the 24 hour Pizzaria. Make sure that you try the Chocolate Melting Cake for dessert some evening.
