darleen1421 Posted August 24, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2008 I just got my documents for my Amsterdam cruise. I noticed I have open seating for dinner. I had requested early seating and want to be assigned a table. What do I do now? Exactly what does open seating mean? :D
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2008 AYWD is the open seating dining. You can go to the lower level of the dining room any time from 5:15 until 9 to eat dinner. Toy can call between 8 AM - 4 PM each day to make a reservation for a specific time and size of table. Reservations are only available from 5:15 until around 6 and then from around 7:70 until 9 -- each ships seems to vary a little on this. Otherwise you just show up when you are ready to eat. Once you are on the ship and are able to go to your cabin, the daily program will list the time and place where you can meet with the dining room manager to try and make a change. Good Luck. Thanks for that info. We bought cruise on Travelocity and specified early dining. I didn't know they can just give you whatever they want. Guess we will see what we can do. Haven't heard good things about AYWD. I guess if that is the worst thing that happens we will be fine.
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 24, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 24, 2008 Not certain how far in advance you booked your cruise -- but as a rule -- if you book a cruise at least 9 months in advance you get the dining time you want. Most people tell their TA's that they want the 5:45 Traditional dining time -- rather than saying I want early dining time. Your TA may have mis-interpreted this since AYWD dining starts at 5:15. Come back after the cruise and let us know what happened and how dining went. Enjoy your cruise.
