Panama Canal cruises 14 days

Recommended Posts

I have been on a 10 day and there were extra activities added. They had a handwritting analysis class that spanned several days that was quite interesting. There were several other seminars and so many choices that there were days when we were in a quandry as to which activity to pick.

We just returned from a 14 day Panama Canal cruise 10/17. There were three 1 hour canal lectures before we crossed. There was a cooking demo in the centrum. We did the Academy at Sea classes for theater production, and Hospitality and beverage. They were each hour long classes on 4 of our sea days. Hospitality and beverage serves you quite alot of drinks. It's a great way to try some items you would not normally order from the bar. There were 5 different dance lesson sessions. Arts and craft classes. and all the other stuff found on a normal 7 day cruise. We loved it and were never board. If you have any questions I will try to answer them.

We are going on a 14 night Panama Canal cruise on Radiance in April 2005 .

We have done 12 night and back to back cruises but this is the first 14 night cruise for us .

I would be really intrested in hearing about the different actives on board on the sea days .

Thanks for your input Vikki.

abridalmaven: We were on a Radiance Alaska cruise in June 02...we sailed the 15th. Did you join us on that cruise? We are also on the Serenade in April with you too! My DW and I have the worst luck when it comes to cruising. We missed the Hubbard glacier because of weather or ice conditions..twice! We also missed a port of call on the Can/NE cruise just this past Sept. With our luck we will probably miss the Panama canal and have to go around the southern tip of South America. LOL See you in April!

Hi

You booked a great cruise. :)

The canal is a technical milestone and what VikkiGarcia pointed out is quite correct.

We did the crossing last year on the Radiance and all things happened there as well.

On the other hand we cruised on the Radiance 14 months before and quite a lot of the things were simply repeated (same cooking demonstration in the Centrum than before –same dish same jokes :( -).

One bad thing was that there were only 2 production shows in the theatre. The Radiance only did 7 day voyages those days and so we were told that it was simply not possible to learn a new show only for the repositioning cruises.

We understood that and they filled the gap with some really good guest entertainers. :D

Don’t know about Serenade at the moment – because Jewel has 3 production shows each week!

Big difference: The People!!

In the Caribbean you’ll find much younger crowd. On the longer voyages the people really get older. But I don’t care. They are all very friendly and polite!

If you have any other question I’m happy to answer them – maybe after my transatlantic cruise! :)

Keep on cruising

The crowd was definately older. We knew this going in. But they were a young acting, chipper crowd. The casino and lounges had plenty of people still in them when we went to bed around 1am. I was expecting a noticable difference in the mood of the ship (old and cranky) but found it to be not much different than a standard 7 day cruise. We were with a HAL ship (Voldam) at most ports. You could tell the age group ( or maybe the way they presented themselves) on that ship was much higher.
