Back2Back flight Question...Please help!

I'm looking to know if this is how a Back2Back flight works...

We are sailing on the Fascination Feb. 12/09 (out of Jacksonville) and then the second cruise on Feb. 17/09 (out of Fort Lauderdale)...

I called Carnival today and was told that because we are doing Back2Back cruises that Carnival would "take care of" the cost of the third leg our our flight (being the flight from Jacksonville to Fort Lauderdale)...and that we would be responsible for the cost of the "round trip" (being Detroit to Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale to Detroit)...we are fine with using CarnivalAir...

Has anyone ever done this?

My concern is that I thought I had to fill out a deviation request from the Air Department and go that route and pay the additional $50.00 per person (if you accept the deviation)...(the first PVP told me this)

And today I was told they'll just do a Back2Back for us and the middle flight won't cost us anything...because we are taking 2 cruises Back2Back...

I hope this makes sense>>>>

Any advise would be appreciated!!:confused::confused:
