Newbie - Honeymoon Boarding Doc Question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I was wondering if you experienced folks might be able to help me. I am going on the EOS on June 20th.

Facts

1) Getting married day before cruise.
2) Fiancee is previously divorced.
3) She has a birth certificate with her maiden name.
4) Her drivers' license has divorced name.

Do you think the birth certificate is sufficient, even though it does not match the driver's license? If not, any suggestions.

Do not want to get a passport before, because she will then have to change her name on it again after the cruise.

Thanks for your help.

First, congratulations. I will try to help. My hubby and I were married on RCCI just prior to sailing. I had been married, divorced, married again and widowed. I too was worried about the proper documentation. I took everything. Birth Certificate, marriage license and divorce papers from first marriage, marriage license and death certificate from second marriage. Everything went smoothly, no problems at all. Not even sure I needed all that but didn't want to take any chances.

Have a wonderful cruise.

Congratulations! I had a similar problem (got married, left next day for honeymoon). I decided to get a passport in my maiden name. When we returned, I sent the passport and marriage license in to have my name updated. I don't think there was a charge to change your name.

If you don't go that route, your fiancee will need to show her birth certifcate, the marriage license from her previous marriage, and her driver's license.

If your finacee decides to update her name on the driver's license, tell her to have it changed to her first name, maiden name, and new married name. That way she will only need to bring her birth certificate for Caribbean travel.

I was also in the same boat. I brought the birth certificate, divorce papers, and copy of the new marriage license just in case. There was no way they were going to keep me off the ship! No one ever even asked for the divorce papers to prove the name change. Better safe than sorry!

I was also in that boat and all I needed was my Birth Certificate (in maiden name) and Photo ID (in previous married name). Make sure though that the cruise is booked in at least one of those names. Do not book it in her NEW married name or you will not have any documentation. The marriage license will not be processed in time. Good luck and Congratulations.
