misguidedangel Posted August 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2008 THey sell mixed drinks at the bar. I doubt that an in room blender would be tolerated...If on a budget, limit drinks to a few a day or less time in the casino....
Terry305 Posted August 30, 2008 #5 Share Posted August 30, 2008 Why there is always someone putting down a person that wants to bring booze or prepare a drink??? The bullet . Enjoy your drinks and cruise!!!!
sallwee Posted August 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted August 30, 2008 Any suggestions for a blender we can use in our room?? I like mixed drinks but do not always want to buy at the bar....I also do not want to bring my big blender from home. On our last cruise, I brought my medium sized blender from home in my carry on and used it everyday.

Misguide I think the OP knows that they sell mixed drinks in the bar, that is not what she is asking, tolerated by whom?? Also why putting down a person suggesting she has financial problems when it has nothing to do with what she asked ,she wants guidance to take a simple blender to mix her drinks, and going as far as telling her what to do on her vacation like limit her bar bill and her attendance to the casino is way out of line. ajaxgalca Posted August 31, 2008 #8 Share Posted August 31, 2008 I took the bullet in June - worked great! Just remind your room steward to keep the ice bucket full!
PelicanBill Posted August 31, 2008 #9 Share Posted August 31, 2008 On a cruise with another couple, they brought a full size blender and we brought stuff to blend. Their steward was stingy with the ice, so we had to ask our steward also and ferry in more ice from our room. But it worked out great!
nolaAlive Posted August 31, 2008 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2008 Lots of ice can be obtained on the Lido deck. ;)
d-lite-n-cruisin Posted August 31, 2008 #11 Share Posted August 31, 2008 THey sell mixed drinks at the bar. I doubt that an in room blender would be tolerated...If on a budget, limit drinks to a few a day or less time in the casino.... Hmmmm; unfair, cruel, out of line..... It's not like she asked the best way to steal money from other passengers while on the cruise. She really didn't need a guide to becoming a millionaire; she just wanted to make some mixed drinks! Go for it... bring a bullet, or your biggest you got. maybe you'll be lucky enough to be next door to misguidedangel.
MDavis23 Posted August 31, 2008 #12 Share Posted August 31, 2008 I felt it was kinda silly bringing our Magic Bullet, overkill, but we used it all the time!! We brought four cups with my DH and two kids each having their own. The kids enjoyed the fruit smoothies and we enjoyed our alcoholic smoothies. We are opting for a shaker this upcoming cruise, but we have not sailed yet, so who knows, that might change. :D We bring plastic pints of alchohol, smoothie concentrate packs (Back to Basics; banana strawberry; margaritta; strawberry daquiri), and ask our room steward to keep the ice filled! I enjoy the shaken drinks, but the blended ones are a tasty treat. Take the Magic Bullet and enjoy!! ;)

sheistheboss Posted August 31, 2008 #15 Share Posted August 31, 2008 Misguided is misguided, To tell someone something everyone knows (they sell blended drinks in the bar, duh! ) and how to spend their money is just crazy talk. We always bring alcohol with us and use or magic bullet and we do not hide it from the cabin steward either. We have our steward keep our cooler FULL of ice every day. We also buy drinks on the ship but since we have a balcony and do not want to go to the bar to get a beverage and I can do it I WILL DO IT !!!!!! . Party on ! Forchunut1 Posted August 31, 2008 #16 Share Posted August 31, 2008 I bought a "personal size" blender at Walmart for $16 and took it on our cruise. It's like a regular blender but smaller and the top part of the blender is actually a 16 or 20 oz mug when you turn it upright after blending. It's a lot cheaper than the Magic Bullet if you don't already have one.
trock Posted August 31, 2008 #17 Share Posted August 31, 2008 WOW I didnt read Misguideds post at all like most of you... She was just offering advise.. isnt that why we all post? She said she *thinks* it would not be tolerated (probably because Carnival does not encourage the use of home appliances in your cabin. ). She didnt judge the OP's finances, she offered advise stating *if* on a budget... Lighten up people... also.. there is a bullet that works on batteries... should not be a problem.. Just dont pack it with the batteries in.. if it goes on, they will search your luggage and remove all the alcohol...
misguidedangel Posted August 31, 2008 #18 Share Posted August 31, 2008 Folks, chill out! If you've read other threads about items being taken away you'd know that if the room steward sees a blender in the cabin they might take it because it could be considered a hazard or overload the breaker. If you don't know this, household appliances take a lot of electricity to run. I can't even use my microwave and have a kellte of water boiling at the same time from the same plug because it overloads the circuit!!!!! I just scratch my head at some of the items people want to bring with them, and I thought bringing my wee baby tripod was strange!!!!! (I'm not brining it this time). I have to travel quite a distance to port, so I can pack what I need and that is all, and now that one checked bag is all that is allowed I have to bring even less.... If you like to drink, sure, smuggle it onboard, but your on holidays, enjoy yourself and spend a few bucks instead of going on the cheap. I can go twice a year (three times next year) and when I go I am prepared to spend. I am a woman, ergo, I like to shop, and I really like to shop. I also don't go to the casino's at home and usually onthe ship I am more than happy to donate because I am on holidays and I am there to spend money.... No, I am not rich, I have to take a good chunk of money from each pay to afford to cruise, but I do it willingly because I know I will have a good time. My only frivoulous item I bring is picture of my two boys (aka my cats...). Oh, yea, and this time I'll bring an empty water bottle because it's wee difficult to carry a glass with you everywhere you go......

I got the deluxe version with 2 cups, 2 lips, 2 rims plus an extra set of blades for chopping with a jar (it grinds coffee beans really well). I think I paid $39.95 for it through Amazon and it's worth every penny!

DGP1111 Posted August 31, 2008 #21 Share Posted August 31, 2008 JCPenney also has its own Bullet knock-off (Cooks Brand) that works exceptionally well. Can often be found for about twenty bucks. I've had mine for more than a year, and it still operates like brand new. I regularly use it at work.
tamirpr Posted August 31, 2008 #22 Share Posted August 31, 2008 Pardon my ignorance, but exactly how do you make strawberri daiquiris in a Magic Bullet. I've seen it on TV, but I don't get how you're making drinks in your room. Please fill me in. I'm leaving next Sunday, Hanna willing, and I don't want to not take something that I should!:D
islandchicklet Posted August 31, 2008 #23 Share Posted August 31, 2008 I have a question - does the bullet make the drink smooth?? I just bought a stupid 100.00 blender and it still have chunks of ice in the drink. Is there a trick? I am interested in a bullet but I am tired of chunky iced drinks.
