Liberty notes - 8/23/08-8/30/08

vagitas, hawsole (I don't remember how to spell that), and that's all I can remember off the top of my head, but there was one more that I know I already knew from the last game.

Phill was hilarious in the Love and Marriage game as he tried to decipher the Oregon lady talking about her Rush Limbaugh tie. Did you see that?

Yes, and they put that moment on the Cruise in Review DVD, and showed it in the theatre at the Farewell Show. :D

A couple of those Oregon ladies were on our Mexican Cooking excursion in Cozumel........including the famous ALICIA!!! They were a hoot.

Haha, they looked like they'd be fun to hang out with. We didn't get as involved with the games and stuff like we usually do.

Great Review!

You didn't seem to enthused about the Casino- Is that for any particular reason? Are you not into the casino in general or was there something unpleasant about it?

Thanks

Just thought of another question: ;)

I see you were in the concierge lounge so as a Diamond member was there express boarding at the port of Miami? Thanks!

We got to go straight to a check-in agent.

Unfortunately, it was his first day on the job (at least I HOPE that that's his excuse) and it took a very long time and he got it all wrong. We never did get it all straightened out on the ship.

Then boarding had already begun by the time we were finished, and we had to just join the long line shuffling through the ID photo process.

It wasn't a big deal, but "priority" doesn't go very far some days. :)

(We were able to get off darn early, though - luggage was another matter..........)

The extra $20 per person for the luggage valet was worth every penny. It was kind of annoying to not be able to have all my toiletries since most of them had to go into my checked baggage, but getting off the ship, getting the short line through customs, and not having to lug my bags to the airport and then wait in the 10-mile line to check the baggage made it all worth it. I'd pay double that for the convenience factor.

The only thing I would say irked me, was that we had to be in the Michaelangelo dining room by 7:15, and we were. At 7:45 we were still sitting there (reasonable, waiting for customs to clear our bags), but people were just strolling in, even though we got a note the night before saying if we weren't in there BY 7:15, we'd forfeit the fee and have to deal with our bags. If I knew so many people would be coming in late, I'd have stopped at the WJ and gotten something to eat, or grabbed something in the platinum departure lounge! But overall it was very pleasant. I HATE the last day.

Hi Carol,

We were able to get on relatively easy and fast once they started boarding.

Disembarking was another thing. We had the yellow color tag, which was called at 7:45 am. Got through customs without a hitch, down to get the bags and then was the problem. They "lost" one of our bags. How they lost it from the hallway and down to the luggage area is beyond me. All the other bags were there in order. Thankfully, it only had the toiletries and misc things in it. It was found the next day but we have to wait 3-5 business days for UPS.

That REALLY stinks, Kathy.

We had white tags, and were off the ship by 7:15, but the bags weren't. There were hundreds of people at the "white" tag carousel, and it took around half an hour until ours came around.

We were not eligible for the luggage valet service, because Southwest doesn't participate in the program.

I must say that things went VERY smoothly at FLL. The SW agents at the curb took our bags instantly and had us checked-in with boarding passes in less than five minutes. They also didn't charge us for our overweight bags. :D Security was a breeze, too. Less than ten minutes there. :)

There is just make sure you tell the person handing out the cards so that they give you a priority boarding card and not merely a numbered card. We got to the pier at 11, went straight to check-in...no lines, took our sea pass pic and then were handed a flyer stating that disembarking is a lengthy process etc. etc. and they didn't anticipate boarding until 1:00. Ten minutes later they called priority, we were on by 11:30-11:40. They actually boarded priority before weddings...the first time I'd experienced that.

Thanks Carol

My husband and I took our first cruise with my parents in April and we loved it so much we booked a "back to back" on the Liberty at the end of November. Looking forward to it even more after reading about your trip... can't wait 88 days and counting

Was she the one in the Love and Marrige Show? I was told by someone travelling in her party that she was the US Customs Director in Astoria Oregon.

She was a hoot!

Then she'd be the one to talk to if you want to get some of those Cubans in ;)

Alicia wasn't IN the Love and Marriage Show, but she was mentioned as the one the center guy would have liked to see in a bikini.
